"Your SIM Card Isn't Activated" - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3

Recently there was an update from Xiaomi and I'm getting this message every minute. Basically it just stays on top left corner, beside time.

Any fix folks??

My suspicion is that you have never set up your Mi-Account.
The "SIM card not activated" or "unable to activate sim" message has got to do with MI Accounts.

I do not want to sync my phone with a "Chinese" server. Is there any other way around setting up Mi account?

Long press the notification to bring up another screen where you can turn off the notification.
