OzBargainer's Choice: Mouth Fresheners

Hi all,

What is the general consensus on Ozb RE: mouth fresheners?

  • Gum?
  • Mints?
  • Chewy Mints?
  • Dissolving Strips?

There's so many out there! I'm just after a mint that's cheap, convenient to carry (pretty much all of them actually), actually works, and one that is NOT OVERLY LOADED WITH SUGAR.

I've been doing some basic research and across last couple weeks tried listerine pocketpaks, fishermans mints, jols, Wrigley's PK etc.

I just haven't hit the nail on the head. So far, I think PK by Wrigleys is pretty decent. Not too much sugar, but it's a tad more expensive than the rest.

I'd be curious to hear what your Go to Is for mints. I remember the mints on iHerb which were a hit…but I've never tried them.

    Listerine in a hip flask.

Get a mint plant. Every day, pull a couple of leaves off and store them in your bag, wallet, pocket, etc. Every few hours suck on a leaf for 30seconds to a 1 minute.

Sleep with a bulb of garlic in your mouth

    • Ginger after meals also helps

  • Eat an Apple

  • If there's an ongoing problem, it may be worth seeing your doctor or dentist. Breath mints/gum might just mask a problem that is better resolved by a health professional.

Having said that, for just freshening up post-meal, I like eclipse mints (or the ALDI version called Blitz).

No one has mentioned flossing after eating. Removing the food bits between your teeth helps with getting rid of the bad breath

  • Gum is a great way to freshen your breath. Flossing does help to remove food between teeth that can cause bad breath.
