Government Grants & Energy Efficiency Programs for businesses

I have been getting offers to replace high bay halogen lights with LED or some sort of super fluorescent.
About 60 lights, 11Mt ceiling. No charge at all, but it's a government scheme, don't know which government.
Usually one would never look a gifthorse in the mouth, but employee safety, and business efficiency just might be at stake.
When I asked the landlord, he said to do what you like, it's nothing to do with me, but be careful
Has anyone had experience with these schemes, and/or whether the lights work properly, and whether there could be a sting in the tail. Remember, the lights are going to be a long way from the floor.

Why the hell are duh gummints giving free lights to businesses that already pay less tax and lower electricity rates than individuals already instead of giving free lights to individuals that are literally losing their accommodation due to high electricity prices?

    • Homes are eligible too

  • Find out details about the grant, and if you go ahead, make sure the contractor has the right insurances.

  • Yes. This is via the Victorian Government Energy Saver Incentive. The Government doesn't actually pay for this. It's a bit more complicated than that. The energy retailers actually pay.

And yes, you can get some high bays for free through some providers.
