Hisense 55M7000UWG Bought - Not Sure if Telstra TV Needed?

Hey guys,

I'm in the process of moving house. I've just bought a Hisense 55M7000UWG and am waiting for Telstra to install ADSL.

I realise this TV has apps included. My Telstra broadband package also includes Telstra TV.

Is there any need for the Telstra TV unit I'd I have this TV? Does it do anything the TV doesn't?

Stupidly I thought Telstra TV had Stan, Netflix etc included within my Telstra subscription. Now I realise I need to lay for this separately I'm not sure if I need it…

Would really appreciate some help.

Cheers

  • If you are just streaming, and only streaming Freeview channels, Stan and Netflix, the TV can do all that. It can also do some amount of timeshifting of live TV, and maybe record while off?

I don't know what else the Tbox does. Are there specific things you want to do?

  • Pretty much all of your smart TV apps need a working internet connection, however I find apps quite slow and clunky. If you have specific channels on the tbox set top box then you might want to keep it.

  • We purchased Telstra Tv and then a few months late a Hisense smart Tv. We now only use the telstra tv to watch bigpond movies (new release movies). For netflix, catchup tv etc we go through the TVs apps.

  • Put the TTV on another TV in the house. If you have a smart TV might as well use the inbuilt functions.

  • OK great thanks.
Pretty much all we will use it for is streaming free to air and stan/netflix. Also recording if I can
