Contender for cheapest AA alkaline batteries

These are not strictly deals as they were regular prices, but worth mentioning anyway. I was in The Reject Shop and found a 6-pack of Golden Power branded AA alkaline batteries for only $2.00. That comes down to 33.33 cents each. It's still not as cheap as the Bunnings price for a 30-pack of Varta batteries for $9.92 (33.06 cents per cell), however it's a lower single unit cost and is good if you don't want to buy a large amount. Note that the Golden Power cells can be bought in AAA size for the same price.

Also in The Reject Shop are 30-packs of Toshiba AA alkalines for $10. This comes down to 33.33 cents each as well, so just as good value for a potentially better quality battery in a larger quantity.

      Those are carbon-zinc, not alkaline. They're cheaper, but they only last a fraction of the lifspan.

      SHD == Super Heavy Duty == Carbon-Zinc chemistry

      16 pack of what type? If they're alkaline then that definitely beats the Bunnings price, and takes the title of cheapest.

          Strangely, Target doesn't advertise any batteries on its web site.

    what are you looking for alkaline batteries for?

      Good to have a few on-hand for whatever needs them. Generally speaking, I find the game controllers eat them rather regularly, hence why I prefer off-brand. Energy density is usually pretty good, and the cells themselves don't have much chance to sit around for long and start leaking.

      What are the price of Aldi batteries these days? I haven't looked there for a long time, but I seem to recall they only sold in 4-packs.
