After the spontaneous combustion media event where the news reported that phones were exploding everywhere even though almost none at all exploded - you still a Sammy fan?

I think you are asking the wrong group of people. A typical ozbargainer knows that you never buy any Samsung phone when it is first released. Wait for 6 months and watch the price drop by 1/2, just in time for your Christmas holidays and then claim the GST back at the airport. :)

You should get the Coles MasterCard with the shoppers insurance then. Get the difference refunded every time the price drops for two years. If you decide to claim back the GST with the initial price you'll get the maximum refund.

Which question are you asking for the poll?

"You Buying One?" OR "you still a Sammy fan?"

      It's poorly written isn't it.

nope.. still using S6 and happy with it. Sick of phones now, they lost all interest to me. I just use it for calls/text, web browsing and a little bit of camera. The little "upgrades" each year mean nothing to me, rather keep the money in my pocket with the prices they are asking for phones now!

nah. gonna wait for the pixel 2 at least before i upgrade (nexus 6p).

My MotoG is doing just fine, why would I need a new phone? :)

  • The Note 7 recall was done well and with class.
I believe the majority of users here are okay with Samsung, judging by the comments and deals that have been posted since the whole disaster last September.
I personally don't even consider it when thinking about the S8.

The S8 and S8+ look okay, but I'm very disappointed the camera and battery aren't getting upgraded.
The Launch event will be at 1am but pretty much everything has been leaked already.

  • I'm good with my Galaxy s7 atm maybe in 6 months when the prices go down i bought both the s6 edge and the s7 after about 6 months for about 600-700.

  • Doesn't matter samsung or sungsim, never buy something that just came out! Full stop.

Merged from Samsung's Galaxy S8 Will Be Revealed Very Soon!

Anyone excited to see what Samsung's LIVE Event has to offer? Which is happening approximately another 3 hours.

I personally will stick to Samsung products, even though the Note 7 incidents which occured.

    I love Samsung products, period.

    Any OzBargainers watching tonight too?

    • Not interested in Samsung after the crap fight i had with my s7 edge flagship device and poor warranty service and support after sale

I'll be giving this one a miss
Can only see how many batteries already are about to explode with this model, don't believe them for one minute that they do stringent quality testing as I've had 3 s7 edge screens in about 6 months due completely at random on me

They want to either be competitively priced or the market will just ignore / not buy them due to the whole note 7 fiasco people seem to of forgotten about so quickly

    • I've been a samsung user ever since I got my S2… Going to Xiaomi next when my S6 dies…

    • +2

Have a xiaomi mi max , Samsung users gush about the the mi max , then they get defensive about their phones being as good. They realise it's not then they get angry . Then a xiaomi is purchased.

  • If you own a Samsung Galaxy S5 you don't need another phone. They are still great!

  • Finally got my Pre-order in after multiple times of refreshing the page!

  • Are you asking us if we are buying a phone without a bargain?

  • Amaysim are offering pre-orders on them. Who has enough referral credit?

  • After what happened with the Note i will be waiting a few months to see how "explosive" this new phone is.
Samsung have a terrible track record … washing machines, phones all poorly built.
A friend who worked for Samsung in Oz said the mentality within the mobile division is to get the devices out and beat Apple to features when ever they can. Because of this QC is lax and no matter what their fancy ads on TV say.. i do not believe or have faith in Samsung to have changed this mentality.

The way they handled the recall initialy was awesome, but then in typical Samsung style it went to crapola!
I suspect based on what is being written on Whirlpool and comment sections on tech sites not many people are pre-ordering this one

Samsung giving a VR and early access to the device if you pre-order screams desperation.

I wont be getting another Samsung anything especially the S7s (Ooooo a bigger screen… specs are a crappy upgrade compared to the S7 and for $100-$200 more)

Saying that, my Samsung washing machine front loader is just amazing and hasn't skipped a beat for over 7 years. Replaced the hose and water pump due to wear but still awesome. Typing this reply on a Samsung Series 9 ultra book which is still as sexy as it was when first purchased.

When you're a company that spins out so much product then there are going to issues.. some issues include an earth shattering Kaboom :-)

  • Bought! Have been stuck with a Note 3 for over 2.5 years.

  • Any thoughts on the S8 vs S8+? Trying to work out if the S8+ will be manageable one handed.

For example on my Sony Z3 I can unlock and pull down the notification drawer with my thumb. The S8+ might involve a significant stretch to reach the notification drawer?

    • Nova Launcher can swipe down from anywhere, you don't need to swipe from the top. That said I still need to swipe from the top to display clock/status bar within an app, which fortunately is less often.

    • If you go into a JB hifi / apple store you can try the iphone 7 plus (just about the same height as the s8+)
And for the S8 you can try the ZTE axon 7 mini (just about same size as s8).
I think the s8+ is gonna be difficult for one handed use… Then again it has a bigger battery

  • My Nokia 1520 is just a little hard to hold one handed and the S8+ is way slimmer. It depends if you have mouse hands aka Donald Trump.
Not sure on the S8+, I loved using the Note 4 with VR but the Samsung S7 was horrid, too letterboxy for my liking.
Ain't purchasing too early and to tell you the truth, the Asus AR had more of a wow factor for me.

Bixby? At least Cortana has an Australian accent and for some reason I trust Microsoft more than Google. Saying that, it is still early days and the phone hasn't been released yet in Australia.

Camera is another important thing, my Nokia 1520 was and still is very good for photos so will wait to see how good the S8 camera review is.

Nobody is buying one, but the Woolworths Mobile S8/S8 Plus deal is approaching 500 up votes. Right.
