No circular saw lasts forever. But $54 is well within your budget, and this Ozito has a 3 year replacement warranty …

    • Thanks, but is it wort it to spend 50 more to upgrade to a makita or somethimg like that?

My father has had an Elektra Beckum circular drop saw for about 20 years and it still goes strong. Mostly uses it for wood but has cut through cast iron and still hasn't missed a beat (Obviously has needed to change blades over the years but the saw itself still works great)

    • Thanks, anyone had personal experience with the makita?

      • I've got one of these units. I use it occasionally for clean straight cuts. It is smooth and the motor is powerful and silent. The tool is very well built and I think it's a great buy. I've had it for about 4-5 years. I've not had to use the spare blade yet.

        • Alright thanks, i pick it up this avo and see how it goes

  • Do you have any particular use in mind? i.e. you mainly cut pine or hardwood? or are you using it to cut down sheeting?
I've had one of the Ozito ones for about 7 years without any dramas, used it for a mix of reno stuff and when I had my handyman business. My old man has had a little 185mm Makita for God knows how long, it's still plugging along. You can dramatically change performance by grabbing yourself a good quality blade suited to the particular work you are doing. Also if you a are cutting a lot of hardwood or doing bigger cuts close to the max depth than it is worthwile investing in one with a bigger motor.

    • Im mostly cutting pine, occasionally hard wood
