Ford Focus 2005 LR - Aircon/Heater Not Working on Drivers Side

Aircon/Heater not working on the driver side (Ford Focus 2005 LR), but the middle and passenger side vents are blowing air. I assume that the blower fan is still working, what else can be wrong with it?

Thanks.

  • Sounds like there's a hole in the duct that connects the outlet with the air-conditioner. Depending on how the car is designed you may be able to ascertain if it's before or after an inline fan on the drivers side.

  • Might be a valve sticking, one that switches off your upper vents when you switch to de ist, or floor settings. Try switching it to different positions a few times.

Good luck with any repairs. It seems they build the whole car around ducting like that, it can be quite difficult to access without pulling lots of stuff out.

  • Sounds like the little motors that open/close on one side of the cars heating/cooling ducts are cactus. You will be paying a mechanic $100 an hour or more + parts to rectify. Consider the market value of a 12 year old focus and decide weather it is worth the fix.
