Economical Flights & Hotel for Greece

Good day

I'm planning to travel Greece from Melbourne in September. I would like opinions & money saving tips regarding flights and hotel.

Is September the best month to travel Greece? And also suggest me websites for flight & hotel bookings. Thank you

Regards
Maaz

scoot had some cheap flights to greece. Be warned that scoots cost for check in luggage is ridiculous ~$120.

    Skyscanner shows-

    • Long trip; personally I'd be flexible on location and wait for a special, can get $900-1000 AU to Europe on a full service airline that are more direct and will be far more comfortable.

    • The flight duration is lengthy. Planning to postpone the trip to mid-November, came across a flight for $1250 with 2hour layover in UAE.

Personally, I wouldnt leave it that late, thats the end of the season for a reason. The cold picks up dramatically end of August. For the best hotel deals, if you are Greek, call the hotel and speak with them direct. Booking online, i found i copped a premium. But ocassionally you do get lucky with a daily special so still check anyway.

You can use your 28 degrees card pretty much everywhere too.

    • hope to get lucky with hotels when I book my flight later this month. Currently, certain websites are providing 15 nights deal for $2000, that's expensive I guess.

I may travel to Italy/Spain for few nights as well. Trying to find a hotel deal on daily basis, not sure if it exists in Greece.

      • Look at Airbnb.com.au - from memory Greece had decent places for $50/night (private room), or $75-90/night for own place. Probably less in non peak season.

        • In order to obtain schengen visa, I've to provide them my hotel details. I'm unsure if they'll accept Airbnb rooms.

    • I like your season-reason rhyme. But I thought the average person wouldn't mind the temperature drop. It's not a Tasmania-like drop we're talking about :)

The water will be at its warmest. The weather is still dry. And the sub-30 degree heat is much more bearable for sight-seeing.

      • I'd settle with 30 degree but not with something less than 5 degree.
