Water Damaged Nexus 5X from Kogan

So my Nexus 5X recently has stopped charging during a massive storm last week (From Cyclone Debbie). And when I plug the charger in, I can smell a burning plastic smell. Ive contacted Kogan and they've provided me a RMA number/ free shipping for warranty. However when before sending it I just checked the water damage sensor in the sim card, and noticed that it had a few red spots in it, which I guess indicated it has water damage. http://i.imgur.com/wrsertL.png http://i.imgur.com/yhRO8rR.jpg The thing is, Im really really careful about my phone and to my knowledge it's never come into direct contact with water. Reading what others have said it looks like they will see this and send me an email saying that its unrepairable and that it will cost $50 to be sent back to me. What Im asking is, is it even worth sending over to kogan?

Any indication of water damage will not be covered by warranty by the manufacturer or the retailer. They will not honor a return, so no its not worth trying to get kogan to repair it. You should be claiming it on your insurance as damage from the cyclone instead.

    • Sorry I should have clarified, I had my phone charging during the storm where I guess there could have been a power surge/loss of power which broke some electronics, it didnt get wet becuase of the storm. Do you reckon they would give me any money back from that?
