Website Voting Bug

Hello. I've noticed a website bug. It happens with all deals.

For example. When I am LOGGED OUT some deals have X NUMBER OF VOTES.
When I am LOGGED IN the same deals have X NUMBER OF VOTES PLUS 1 or 2 more votes.
I log out again and the total plus votes go back to X NUMBER OF VOTES MINUS THE 1 or 2 votes I see when logged in.

I wonder if anyone else has noticed this?

Yeah, when you are logged in it is up to date, can be slightly delayed when not logged in it seems.

  • Hi Mahalo.

The website isn't updated as quickly for guests (logged out users) as it is for members (logged in users), it isn't a bug but by design/for performance.

You can also click the 'votes' tab on any deal to see this in more detail, it shows which member cast each vote and when they did so.

    • Thanks for the info. How is that a design/for performance? Can't see the benefit of having something delayed.

      • Loading the site / using the fast is faster due to this….

      • Most pages for non-logged in users are cached for up to 30 minutes to be served up to all the guest visitors, whereas each page are individually generated for logged in users (as they contain session IDs & nonce for requests). Most people don't log in & out all the time so they don't see the discrepancy between logged-in / logged-out vote counts, nor do they need to.
