im disgusted of woolies rewards and such alikes, just the other day when i logged into my account i saw that for every dollar spent i get 1c in rewards lol. so i have to spend $1000 to get lousy $10, unless like a 90 year old granny i run around as its world war 2 and collect/present food stamps at the store….

    • It's not really even a reward just a foot in the door smart evil customer psychological warfare marketing campaign and it is working on some of us feeble or desperate minded. But I guess they can't do much can't give the cow for free.

That's why you gotta keep up with the specials. Flybuys is about the same (1pt per $1).

Just yesterday I finished my 4 week shopping special ($40 each week) and got 7000 points, not bad if you ask me. This week I'm completing the 2 week flybuys special to get 4000 points ($50 spend per week).

7000 points eventually translates to $7. You made $1.75/week for those first weeks and are making $2/week on the second. It does add up. I've claimed $160 since joining and saved a whopping $4.03 since January according to the rewards site. But if you buy a single packet of Grainwaves on special this week that will also save you $2. On the old program I was getting $10 off every second shop.

2000 points is $10, not too sure where you got the $7 figure.

        • @clse945111:

          Edit: More fumbled maths removed.

        • @syousef: 7000 points if $35 you know. So almost $9 a week.

        • @happychild100:

Ok clearly doing math on the side isn't working out for me today. I'm not normally this crap so I'm just going to give it a miss.

    • 2000 points for $10

1% return is fairly normal for frequent shopper rewards, many are less. Not a lot to be disgusted about.

Don't look at it in isolation. It is cumulative. So about 1% rebate. But then use 7.5% off egift cards bought OzB. classifieds. = 8.5% off. But then you stock up on 20% - 50% off specials that you use a lot of. = a big saving.

    • And imagine how much they would have to pay to find out peoples shopping history and user information to create targeted marketing when now it only costs then a few cents.

      • +1

They tried to pay nothing for it when they did away with points altogether. It backfired as nobody scanned their card, which is why they now have the current point system.

  • 1% reward points are just the basic savings.
When you add up the specials, discounts and fuel reward savings it does add up
Not much (out of pocket)for Woolworths but lots of savings for the individual.
Im lucky as i have twin LPG tanks and the fuel cost at woolworths stations is usually already 4c cheaper than other petrol stations and then another 4c discount after a $30 shopping spend.
It may be good for some and not as good for others.
    Cheers

    • Ps, The above (OP) is targeted, However, there are promotions every week for everyone on who has a discount card.
I personally didn't get this promotion /discount.. However, I have received other promotions that benefited my back pocket
      Cheers

      • Yeah, I got it, what we need to do is work out how the targeting works, what the triggers are then publish that for the ultimate Ozbargin Woolys blitz

        • +1

The targeting is determined via your spending and from the data that many other third parties supply to Woolworths.

Woolworths makes more money from you being enrolled in the data collection program than it loses from you getting supposed savings.

Not much (out of pocket)for Woolworths but lots of savings for the individual.

Woolworths collects data about you which allows them to manipulate you into spending more money.
