Converting AUD to RMB - Where Are The Best Exchange Rates? Should I Use an Auspost Load&Go China Card?

Hi Ozbargainers !

This Friday, I will be traveling to China for several months and I need to exchange money (AUD) to Renminbi. What is the best way to do this? Go to an Aussie bank, do it at the airport, do it in China?

Also, my salary will be paid into my Aussie bank whilst I am over there and I need to "send myself" those funds from time to time which my partner can do. Should I get an Auspost Load&Go China Card for that? Or is there a better way?

    No. NO. Yes.

  • I suggest you try https://www.anying.com/au/ in Melbourne city.( they give better rate. ).

exchange some cash money (AUD) to Renminbi from here. ( no airport exchange ).
You may exchange more latter from china bank in China ( BUT must take caution when you walk out bank door.).
    Good luck

  • When i was there for weeks . I always carried enough cash for spent .

  • Agree - try to get some from bank here.
Then if needed on arrival at air port in China.

I always carry some cash with me - Aussie and/or US cash.

If I remember correctly used debit card and Commbank Keycard at local ATM.

Have never seen any use of load and go type cards

Do it there. Don't change here. Well change a bit, just enough to survive for a few days. Don't change all.

I'd actually use citibank plus and cash out at an atm there….safe

  • I just exchanged at the front desk of the hotel I was staying plus 28 degrees for the rest of the places which accepted cards.

  • Thank you guys! :)
