  • Anybody else find it weird that we still only have three main console competitors? And like what feels like a rapid decline or shift in console level games? I dunno it feels like everything else has exploded upways and sideways since the internet over 20 years ago except the number of solid games and the console count has actually diminished I would think somebody new would try to come in and change the economy the ecosystem by now.. Anybody else? Am I living in some bizarro world simulation?

  • Traded my Wii U copy for $22 at EB and price matched with Target, bringing it to $40.

Er so has anyone got a link or something better than a slightly blurry picture of a catalogue that is on Vooks?
This price isn't listed in any current Target catalogue online.

    • I've been trying to find one since this was posted because I'd like to price match/preorder it at my local EB, but haven't found anything in the new catalogues. The blurry picture is as good as telling them your uncle works for target and told you it was going to sell for $62. I have a feeling Big W will probably be quite similarly priced

It's not in a current catalogue, was advertised 12th-18th catalogue:

      • Good hunting Soluble

Scroll through to about page 9 from the link, clear as a bell

        • Page 13.
This catalogue site is news to me. Really useful.

  • Does anyone know if Target or Big W are doing some kind of offer - Switch and the Game for $5XX?

  • Looks like target stays on top with Big W at $69.

Pro controller $79 at Big W so $75.05 with Wish gift cards which I think is the cheapest it's been. Time to pull the trigger!

  • Does anyone know what current trade in for wii u console is?

    • $130 at one EB, $180 at another. No real point trading in

    • +1

I wouldn't trade it. Their sign yesterday was a Switch for $300 if you trade a Wii u and a game so you're looking at a switch which is $449 at Big W right now, $426 with wish gift cards then you're giving your Wii U a value of $126 with a game.

I would say privately you're looking at $200 with a controller or 2. A bit more or less depending on what you have.

I just bought one outright not worth the trade in as stated you will trade it for $130 and they will milk it of for $230

Cheers all. Arrived before the gaming desk staff did & I wasn't the only one waiting. That's party game for the weekend sorted

Misus just picked up mine with the steering wheels :D

And I picked up the pro controller from Big W this morning

  • Bought a copy this morning. The lady at the counter said Target should always have the cheapest price on new games. Big W discounted the Switch+BoTW bundle on their own and tried to ask Nintendo to subsidise the "losses", but Nintendo rejected them.

    • Isn't this the first time so far they've been cheaper? I know we are only on 6 games but Big W was cheaper with every launch title. Target is cheaper on the accessories with the joycons at 99, charging grip 34 etc.

    • it was a good thing i got target to match the big w bundle, by the sounds of it they will get the redemption from nintendo for fair price matching :-)

  • Does anyone know if target also sell the steering wheels for the joy-cons? I can't see them in the catalogue.

    • They do, and the lad who sold me the game automatically pulled a pair out for me. $20 on top of the game.

      • Yep, got the wheels and game for $77.90 with 5% off which is cheaper than most places selling just the game!

      • wait, was it $20 for TWO wheels? I didn't get the wheels this morning!

        • Yep I probably wouldn't have purchased if it was a single!

  • Have it on Wii U - still got it again from Target for Switch. Thank You ^__^ ( they only pulled out like 14 copies ) . Luckily I was third in line.

  • See you on the tracks goizzzz!

  • Great price for those who never played the game before.

  • I went to a target in Sydney and found there is no sign of the game. ehhhhh

  • I went to Hornsby Target, no one working the games dep, asked a random staff member and they said they don't even know they have stock. Others asked him and he said come back later…
Anyone found a link to the catalog, I want to try price match.

    • Have a look at the previous page, my post is down the bottom with a catalogue link

      • Had a look though that link and couldn't find it.

    • It's also their top post on their Facebook page if it helps:

    • Thanks will use to price match.

  • Got mine first in line in the west thanks OP and Soluble for tracking down the deal and the proof

there wasn't going to be too many left by the looks of it already a line behind me for 10 or so not sure how many copies they had.

  • Target in Melbourne CBD looked ot have about 50 copies stacked up about 8:15 this morning, other other guy bought it ahead of me but no line or anything like that.

  • Confirmed that EB are price matching Target. Just got my copy then. Just needed to show em online proof, so I just bought up this on my phone -http://www.vooks.net/img/2017/04/target_mariokart8deluxe.jpg

  • Price matched at EB Games

    http://imgur.com/a/IM82b

    • Question, does a picture of the receipt help with others getting a price match? or just proof that you did get a price match.

      • Some EB Games stores/staff may use poor excuses in order to refuse a price match, but if you have an EB Games receipt, they have less options to refuse a price match.

        • Was refused once due to it being 'below their cost price', first and only time I ever purchased something from ebgames.

Just realised I did grab a NES mini and controller a couple of weeks ago but that was online and nowhere else had them :)

        • YMMV. They can still refuse it if their policy is only price matching nearby stores. My old eb had all the local stores on speed dial and would also call to make sure they were in stock.

    • Honest question, why don't you just purchase it from Target if it's the same price?

      • Convenience.

EB games is downstairs from my office and in stock.

Nearest Target is in Broadway which is not within walking distance and may not have it in stock.

        • Fair enough.

  • Grabbed a copy this morning. They weren't on the shelves but the guy was good enough to go into the back room to get one for me and one other guy who chanced an early visit.

  • Price at Costco is 64.99 and they don't match the price of the Target.

  • Melbourne city sold out, there were signs when I went in at lunchtime. Went to Big W instead, $7 more, oh well. $69 is an okay price for day 1.

    • Where were your wish gift cards!?

  • Another confirmation that EB games pricematched Target fine.

  • I'm wondering whether I should wait for another of their 20% off eBay deals 🤔

I strongly recommend to get it straight from Target to support their great effort in selling at the cheapest price and not through price matched from other retailers.
