Any Deals on Reverse Cycle A/Cs?

Winter is coming and I still have no form of heating. I'm currently looking at either of these models from Bunnings, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries 3.3-4.0kW Reverse Split Air Conditioner 3-4 Star or Mitsubishi Heavy Industries 5.0-5.8kW Reverse Split Air Conditioner 1.5-2.5 Star.

Anything better price wise out there?

Buy a mitsubitshi electric, heavy industries is different lower quality brand

    • The heavy industries have 5 year warranty.

I think you got your wires crossed.

MHI is superior to Mitsubitshi Electric.

  • They both do.
The money you save buying cheapo units, you will spend on electricity as they are more inefficient and require more servicing.

  • They'll all start having cash back now we are away from summer.

I would recommend Panasonic over Heavy Industries. Currently, for a similarly spec'd model:

Panasonic 3.5-3.7kw $989 plus $100 eftpos cash back

Panasonic 5kw-6kw $1349 plus $150 eftpos cash back

Expect to pay approx $500-850 installed back to back.

Just as advice if you didn't know, it is VERY important you buy the correct size. Oversized is not better, as the unit will cycle on and off frequently costing you more in electricity, spend a lot of time reaching its heating temp (wasting power) and will reduce the life of the system. OTOH, undersized will not perform as desired and will be overworked trying to reach set temp.

For a similar price installed you may want to consider gas ducted. Depending on the frequency of use and if cooling isn't required this might be a better option for you.

      if cooling isn't required

Must be nice to live in Tasmania

  • Calculate how may kw you need here:

Alwasy get ducted instead if you can afford it, it's far more economical in the long term, and much better in many other ways:

  • it's just as expensive to install as it is to buy
