Doom at $12.44 is a no brainer if there's any PC gamers out there that haven't got it yet.

    • +1

Theres DLC for this though right? I have a rule where I don't buy a game if it has paid DLC - so its either wait until a Game or the Year edition comes out or I don't play it.

      • +8

DLC for Doom is all multiplayer, which isn't what you buy DOOM for and is pretty much dead (when i played it). The single player on the other hand is some of the best fps in recent years.

        • +1

Agreed. This is an old school shooter, just as I like it. No regenerating health or only being able to carry 2 weapons at a time. Secret areas! How often do you find those in shooters these days?

The last time I had this much fun in an SP FPS is the original Half Life (which is also an old school shooter). I couldn't play HL2 due to massive motion sickness with the vehicles, but if I did, that game might be up there also.

I feel Halo irrevocably destroyed the genre.

        • @lostn: No regenerating health sure but every second enemy you kill drops it.

I really have no idea why people keep carrying on about it being like old school FPS as though games such as those in the Serious Sam franchise don't exist.

How many of those games have there been that aren't remakes or ports? When was the last new SS released?

"Old school" does not mean it is the only game that plays like that. So if you include Serious Sam as Old School, that leaves.. two old school shooters?

No regenerating health sure but every second enemy you kill drops it.

Yes, but it doesn't regenerate by itself after a few seconds behind cover. I'd much rather this than the screen going black and white or blood splattering across it. I much prefer picking up health than regenerating it automatically. Those games have encounters that designed around the regenerative health and the need to find cover before you die. I don't like cover, and I don't like waiting for health to regenerate. In those games you die very quick. The game is balanced around you not taking too much damage before hiding. I'm not calling Doom harder or easier. It's not a hard game on Normal difficulty. I just find this style more fun than CoD/BF.

I like that this game lets you carry all the weapons you own and not only two, has armor to pick up, and secret areas to find. I really don't remember the last FPS I played with secret areas.

Nowadays every shooter plays like CoD which I hate.

        • @Diji1:

I don't recall any of the SS games being any good though.

Doom on the other hand was just stellar, fantastic graphics, sound and level design.

      • +1

Yeah, but AFAIK it's only multiplayer content.

I didn't even bother with multiplayer on the base game, it's the single player Doom that gets all the praise.

        • The MP was fun when it first game out, different and interesting… but definitely not what made the game good

    • fun game.

    • Suspect it won't run on my aging GTX560Ti?

Most games are fine for me, but the specs on DOOM look killer…

      • +1

Hi Five!!! Glad to know I'm not the only one still in the 560Ti Club.

Thinking I'll have to upgrade soon, it's a great card and still plays most titles at 1080 pretty well, but it just doesn't have enough RAM these days :(

    Legit?

    • +2

cdkeys.com is legit. Well, legit compared to G2A, but not as squeaky clean as buying from publishers preferred key vendors (not the most bargain friendly option).

Yup have bought a ton from them, no issues at all.

    • Can also vouch, used them for half a dozen games or so.

    • I bought a few days ago for $16 from CD Keys - easily worth the price

    • I've probably spent 300$ over about 20 games and have had no issues with getting keys on time.

I would note that for some games the keys are delivered as images so no copy paste. But I'm just lazy I guess.

    • +1

Doom worked for me just now.

    • If you go by Reddit gamedeals subreddit - this site is considered grey market and do allow deals to be posted

    • Just take note. They will send Steam keys to your email address associated with your PayPal account. I freaked out when I paid for it, and didn't get asked for my email address. I had to email and ask them.

FYI The Mass Effect trilogy is not a 'complete edition'-esque version, you still have to purchase the DLCs

    • -1

Mass Effect trilogy for under $10 is a steal. You still get three full featured games with an awesome story plot.

If you're enjoying the game you won't have an issues getting the DLC's for a few dollars extra since your saving money on the actual games.

      • +5

        just letting everyone know.

Also the DLCs for PC aren't bought using money you have to get bioware currency then purchase the dlcs.

They set you back almost $100

      • +5

It's more than a few dollars unfortunately.

Offering the trilogy for dirt cheap is EA's trojan horse. They do this a lot. The DLC will cost over $100 for ME 2 and ME 3 combined. All that DLC might add up to about 20 hours of gameplay or less, for $100. While yoiur $9.30 for the base game gets you about 150 hours. You do the calculation on value per dollar spent.

The DLC never goes on special because EA is smart. They know that's where the real money is made. If you offer the base game cheap to get them in the door, you can ream your customers on extras.

    • +2

I'd say it's also worth noting that the Mass Effect games are available with EA/Origin access, which in my opinion is a pretty good service

  • +1

    Mass Effect Trilogy, not Triology.

    • +9

It's actually the DLC version where Shephard is a triologist on a mission to study triangles.

    • +1

      Thanks, edited.

      • Cheers.

    • +3

      Mass Effect Trilogy, not Triology.

      It's a Trollogy.

The culmination of 150 hours worth of choices comes down to what colour do you prefer?

  • Thanks , got Doom to play over the Easter holidays.

    • +2

Well it does have easter eggs in game.

  • The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt GOTY Steam edition is AU$31.15 when using the facebook code.

    • It's GOG key not steam

      • Yes it is, let me edit my post.

        Or not.

  • +2

Just so everyone knows, the facebook code won't work unless you have a CD Keys account, so create one before checkout.

  • +1

Playing Doom right now. It's the best single player FPS I've played since Half Life. It's just so fun and the customization is really good.

    • That is great to hear. Easter is looking up!

Even better then Dead Space 1/2?

    • +1

Doom completely blew me away. I was expecting another cash grab on an old franchise, but from the first minute of the single player to end I had a absolute blast.

  • Why are they this cheap, what's the catch?

  • It's worth noting that the Doom dl is 78GB.

    • +2

That's 78% of my monthly limit!

    • Finished downloading overnight and the final total is 66.4GB.

  • Paid and received the key straight away, already finished the game on normal with all secrets/collectibles, time to do it again on next difficulty!

  • my wallet is doomed !!
    thanks OP

  • Grabbed ME trilogy and went in to auto pilot to redeem on steam key wouldn't work … then read the actual instructions and it's through origin being EA.. duh !!!

  • +1

Ah crap, bought human revolution thinking it was the new one and now I have two separate versions. im a doofus.

  • Wish they would make more cooperative multiplayer games like W:ET.

  • Is it just me or does it seem like more and more CDkeys.com games are Euro region locked. Kinda annoying.. But still, great deals, used them heaps in the past.

  • +3

Doom is back up to AU$ 16.39.

    • I still picked it up yesterday. For $15.57 (with the FB 5% off) it's still a great price. Took a while to download last night so I might give it a try tonight or over the long weekend.
