So far, the quotes that we received are quite expensive ranging from $7k-8.5k

No insurance is required & cash in hand

Try Priority Tree Services. Used to be cheap. We live in a unit now so haven't needed them for a while. Sorry I don't have any contact details.

Try Gumtree - there's probably some people on there that will do cash-in-hand

Post a job to Service Seeking or HIPages and you'll get a few quotes…I got a tree removed in Feb by Henshaws Tree Service (based in Kings Park so best check if they service Sydney Upper North). Job done quickly and cleaned up nicely too.
