  • i can't find that LA fare. Can you help me?

    • Please see the "Travel Periods" section I have typed out above. Info regarding the V Australia deals are not anywhere on their website yet, only in the email they sent me so I typed it out above for everyone. So for you, flying from MEL or BNE to LAX, the travel dates are between 17/10/2011-31/03/2011 and 01/05/2011-16/06/2011. Just pick dates in those ranges and plonk them into the virginblue website, which will redirect you to V Australia.

      My sample dates got me these results:
      * 28/01/2011 BNE > LAX
      * 04/02/2011 LAX > BNE
      * $969 including taxes, which is actually $6 less than the price they have advertised = more win!

      • awesome, thanks for updating that.

        ok someone explain this to me: When I put in
        16/01/2011 BNE > LAX
        05/02/2011 LAX > BNE
        I get $1044 + $792

        BUT when I put in
        23/01/2011 BNE > LAX
        05/02/2011 LAX > BNE
        I get $527 + $464

        so the return flight changes subject to the outgoing flight….why? (which explains why i couldn't see cheaper flights before)

        • Because then both dates fall within the eligible sale period. Btw I did a typo, I meant 17/01/2011 not 17/10/2011.

          • @ccrap: i also found some cheap flights in Oct and Nov

  • My favourites are:
    * Sydney to J'berg for $1299 return (nearly 400 less than other airlines for same travel period); and
    * Sydney to Vanuatu for $199 one way (mmm warm and sunny).

    The first one almost feels like it needs a post of its own but I will resist. It would be a great time to travel to South Africa as the infrastructure has been incredibly improved already thanks to the world cup, and enough time would have lapsed for the over inflated "world cup tourist" prices to come down to a more reasonable level, allowing you to get more rand for your dollar.

    Thank you ozbargain, by typing this up I think I just convinced myself into a holiday. Will be pleading first with the boss for leave tomorrow though as am already in negative lol.

  • a return trip to la for under $1000? very tempting

    • The cheapest flights I have found ex BNE is $494 and ex LAX is $442 = $936
      but its a lot of stuffing around to get that.

  • +3

    Adioso has some of these fares indexed (we currently only index flights about 3-4 months out on most routes):

    For Domestic/Pacific flights with VirginBlue/PacificBlue:

  • Damn; I booked domestic flights on Virgin Blue yesterday evening prior to sale commencing; exact same flights are now $40 (in total) cheaper. Tough biscuits I guess.
