Mi Xiaomi and Kodi

So I was one of the ones who purchased a mi xiaomi from the recent alibaba deal on here. Installed kodi 17 and began my streaming adventures. However! I noticed that streaming doesn't seem to be smooth…

Now when I say it's not smooth, not that it's full blown choppy. But it's enough to become annoying as it's not flowing at 100%

Was doing some reading but can't seem to find a solution on the issue. Thought I'd ask the OzB community

  • I would like to know this too as I have been eyeing an android tv box to install kodi with exodus. Wondering if the experience is good with this combo.

  • How are you accessing files? I mainly use a portable HDD plugged into the box and it's almost perfect, just a slight delay from audio to video.

Streaming through Netflix also seems fine, definitely no worse than via USB.

Edit - just saw the first reply. Exodus is fine for me, only issue would be audio/video sync a bit again. Now I'm thinking about it, I wonder if that could be my HDMI cord.

    • you can adjust the audio sync +/- a few milliseconds till its right. But you have to adjust it every time, but just a few clicks away.

      • Thanks will check it out next time!

  • It's streaming through exodus that I get the issue. The fixes I looked up suggest disabling the media codec acceleration or something? Tried disabling, no dice…

  • Whats sources are you streaming from? Try to pick gvideos one which generally is the fastest. If you have issues with kodi maybe try SPMC to see if the problem persist. You can install SPMC along side kodi.

    • What's that? And where do I get it and what does it do?

      • SPMC is a fork of Kodi but more optimized for android so its just another kodi. You can get it from the play store.

  • Steaming not flowing 100% - probably more to do with your wi-fi/router - how old is it ?
I upgraded mine as it's integral to your viewing experience.

    • using the internode wifi box they gave me. Brand new.
