Quality Lounge/Sofa - King Living?

Decided to buy our first good quality lounge. We are looking at King Living, in particular the Jasper. They have a sale on at the moment.

Anyone recommend them?

Anyone had anything to do with their sales? Will they negotiate.

Unfortunately king living are one of those companies that are ALWAYS having a sale… Don't rush to buy simply because they say that they're having a sale. Sportsbet wouldn't even pay $1.01 on them having a sale next week because its so likely.

In saying this, I do actually have a king living sofa. I have the Delta. I actually purchased it second hand from Gumtree. I got it because of its storage capabilities and bed conversion capabilities (like the jasper…). I did actually contemplate buying it brand new but decided against it.

They are fairly well made. I've had zero issues with mine. My second option was a plush furniture sofa due to its mega comfort factor but yeah the delta is an amazing couch.

I'm sure you could attempt to negotiate a tiny bit as their prices are highly inflated but I'm not entirely sure they would budge.

    • yeah they are always on sale lol
sometimes the sale is better and they give u freebies!

I got the delta storage too, 5 years, no issues with the leather or anything
      great buy!

      • Was thinking of getting Jasper, then saw the Delta III with storage. Thinking that it will come in handy for our small home later! Glad you both like the Delta, looks like a purchase (gonna wait til June to see if they have better than the 50% off sale going on at the moment)

I know you didn't mention the Dream model, but thought I would share. We've had a fabric 3 seat King Dream with two recliners for a few years now. Pretty happy with it except:

    • My hair gets caught in the weave/fabric? easily…hard to vacuum out…almost have to pick them out one by one and place into the vacuum haha
    • Doesn't recline completely flat like some do…not a deal breaker, but just letting you know.
    • Each recliner recently stopped working within a few weeks of each other, luckily we got the extra warranty. They came out and fixed one, even though it took them a couple of weeks (although they said the part that was broken would have only cost $80; but dunno what their call-out/labour fee is?). It was stuck in the open position, so a bit annoying. The second one just the transformer died, so they just posted me a new one and I replaced it myself.

Would have preferred to get a leather one in hindsight, but didn't have the budget at the time…partially regretting it now that our 16 month old has put a few stains on it…but such is life…I suppose if she ruined a leather one I would be much more annoyed if you look at it another way? I know of someone who's daughter somehow got permanent marker and a hole puncher to their $20k recliner…ouch!

  • I have 3 King Sofas. All bought on sale, funnily enough. All different models bought at different times.

They are still in good nick, although the original one is a tad scratched by the cats over the last 20 years. (Not used as scratching posts, just launching themselves off them).

The last one we bought was, actually, a good bargain. We bought a black leather floor stock two seater with chaise longue at around $2500. It was basically 70% off what the RRP was. The leather feels really creamy. The only downside is the chaise longue is probably a tad soft, but that doesn't bother me particularly.

I would certainly recommend King Furniture but talk to them about when the Floor stock will be available. We were looking at buying a couch and the store lady suggested we wait until the floor stock went on sale. We then contacted a couple of stores to find out what floor stock they had to we could get the one we wanted. They came with a couple of good sized leather cushions - which we weren't expecting. The joke was that they then turned up for delivery without the cushions we rang them about it. They then made us up some new cushions because the others had gone missing. Very good of them, we were just expecting a fobbed off apology.

Our couches double as very comfortable beds when people drop by.

  • Thanks everyone for the input.

I think I'm going to go for a King. I haven't had anyone try to suggest a superior brand in that price range.

Anyone with a King suggest the Feather or Memory foam?

From research it seems like a hard decision, maybe I'll be sold after I sit in one for a while..

  • Recently looked around everywhere and couldn't find anything that ticks all the boxes apart from King. Yes, they are a tad more expensive than others even when they are on sale but the perceived quality and design were better than others we have seen. We ended up buying the Jasper in leather.

  • I went to look at King Living over the weekend and wow! They certainly make other lounges look like child's play.

The current sale price for the Delta III with one storage is about $2690. Is that a good price?

Does anyone know roughly when floor stock goes on sale in the year? The salesperson I had spoken to seemed only interested in making a sale that day and only at the advertised price.

    • We took the Delta III floor stock at Richmond 2-3 weeks ago :) (3 seaters, no storage). We originally wanted the Delta III with storage but after seating and comparing with the one without storage, we picked the non-storage in an instant. Could feel the hollowness with the storage, which we didn't like!
