If you can increase your budget to $100, you can get so many good dash cams that's built to last and records high quality videos.

I bought this one from Big W for $69 a couple of months ago and so far have had no problem at all. comes with built in Mic.

  • That's a bit of an oxymoron, you'll be hard pressed to get any type of 'good' Dashcam under $50. Australia has some unique environments that tend to break the cheap dashcams, more so when the inside and heat from the sun can melt a lot of those and they'll just stop working. YOu'll also find that these will not have the capacity to record at time of incident or loss of power.

there's a high chance upon impact your cheap dashcam won't be recording, u get what you pay for.

Mine has parking mode, impact mode, 2 channel system, power saving mode all this for $200

    I would suggest this

Xiaoyi YI 1080P 2.7" LCD Smart Car DVR Dash Camera $62 delivered

    • Is Xiaoyi same as Xiaomi?

  • I'd suggest stretching your budget a little bit more than $50. Yes you can record a simple impact as evidence but what about reading number plates for runners or accidents at night?
A small investment for a huge saving.

Here's a video of the "best" budget cams - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYYQnZcQxwI . ****Prices in USD

Xiaoyi is also a good recommendation, but I think the Australian heat might get to it since it runs on a battery instead of capacitors
Otherwise the A118C is a decent budget option. Has capacitors so heat doesn't affect it as much.
