USA/Canada Visa for Border Crossing on Foot

I'd like some confirmation whether an eTA (electronic travel authority) is required for an Australian passport holder entering INTO Canada FROM the US on FOOT. The entry point is the bridge that connects the two countries at Niagara Falls. From my research, it looks as though an eTA is only required if entering by air, but I cannot find any info regarding entering on foot. I'm guessing walking through the border would be the same as entering by car, train or boat? Thanks.

  • No, its not needed. As long you have ETA with US, youre fine. Thanks!

    Google "Canada ETA"
    First result
    Second paragraph

"Visa-exempt travellers do not need an eTA when entering Canada by land (e.g. car or bus) or sea (e.g. cruise ship)"

    • Yeah, walking is indeed by land! Thanks!

  • The view from the Canadian side is well worth going across. We stayed the night at a hotel in Canada that had a a view of both falls and they had fireworks on that night. Well worth looking into if the fireworks is on but make sure you have a room with a decent view. The town is pretty ho-hum but the park is reaaly good and the Maid of the Mist is well worth it. Have fun.

    Nah, Trudeau loves illegal immigrants

  • make sure you have quarters for the turnstile. many years ago i jumped over it as i didn't have any coins and US officers approached me i explained i just wanted a stamp in the passport. they gave me a souvenir stamp and i walked back across into Canada free. lol
