Bought a Used Car, What Do You Guys Think of It?

Hey guys, first post

So I bite the bullet and bought a BMW as a high yield vehicle investment and after a long time of searching for answers on reliability and the history of their cars, I came across one that I really liked and I want to know your experience with these cars are and what you think about my purchase. I know I could of gotten a cheaper one but this one just was really clean with one owner and low KMS.

2007 BMW 530i M sport
- Body is in really good nick.
- 57,000 kilometers
- 1 owner/full service history
- couple of months rego with RWC
- bought for $17,000
- 3L Inline 6 with 190kw/ RWD

its got all the extra features too, heads up display, sunroof, navigation, 6 disc blah blah blah you get it.
The owner said his mother purchased it for $110,000 in 2007 from the dealer in Doncaster and mind you this guy has a wife, they were just upgrading to a bigger car. He wasn't any 18 y/o lebo hoon.

Thanks

    "a high yield vehicle investment"

Maybe I'm missing something here, but what kind of investment depreciates from $110k to $17k ?

I know nothing about BMWs, is there something special about this one that means it will be worth heaps in years to come?

Yup, also didn't get what he meant by "a high yield vehicle investment"

      high yield investment
it was just a joke referring to this.

      • Ah right, I'm out of the loop there. Have an internet point :-)

You need to ask a Westpac financial advisor.

    Hope BMW's are Halal certified.

For $17000 I'd buy a much newer, non BMW, vehicle. 2007 is much too old to spend that kind of money on, let alone an overpriced European vehicle.

Can I ask why a BMW? What do you want in a car?

    • For $17000 I'd buy a much newer, non BMW,

$17k is fair price for a luxury vehicle that is equipped with similar tech as one that's five years newer.

I think you got a good deal. Im an Audi enthusiast, and i know a fair bit about beamers. Usually it is hard to get such low kms on a car of that age. I just got my Dad a 2012 Audi A5 Sportback 2.0 TDI with 40000km ($34000). I think you got a pretty good deal, as long as you like the car i guess. Hopefully it is reliable for you

you should have bought a 3 series if you really wanted a beamer

    2007 BMW…
    HIGH yield vehicle investment…
    hahahahahahahahahahahaha
    LOL
    Best joke ever
You wait until something goes wrong and you need a BMW workshop repair than they will show you HIGH yield…

      Troll post

  • Seems like a nice car, just need to cut the springs yourself and take the head rests off the front seats and car will be perfect, also if it doesn't break the budget buy a nrl bulldogs sticker for the lower back corner window.

    You should of offered 80k
Your investment would of yielded more than 5 times the amount of dividends

  • Had a BMW once, when it inexplicably stopped in the middle of nowhere for the 2nd time (restarted after 20 minute wait 1st breakdown) had it towed to repaired who said…"dunno why it stopped, we can start by replacing the fuel pump ($524), if it's not that, we can replace ??? ($600), if it's not that we can replace ??? ($650)"…so we got it going and sold it the next week…low klms., 5 years old really nice car. Granted while we owned it, it was a really nice car to drive and we really appreciated it. I often wondered why Holden, Ford, Mazda etc. couldn't copy the suspension/steering geometry to get the same roadholding and comfort/ride.

Good luck with yours…I know from personal experience you WILL love it.

Totally wrong audience to appreciate it.
This is a site that gets excited over a $1 saving and the warranty on an i30!

Enjoy. As long as you have a bit of a treasure chest for maintenance it will be a lovely place to travel in.

People normally ask for advice before they buy something. What's the point? Are you sitting in your car reading the replies?

  • A guy I knew bought a m3 sport from this builder who had too many cheap cars from the auctions for 4g.
Drivers seat was a bit tatty could have done with reapulster. He took it straight in for a tune up, another 4g lighter he had a list of what needed fixing

He was just happy people noticed him

I kinda thought he just looked like every other tosser from the Gold Coast
