Concreting Job for the Patio

Hello All

Any advice would be welcome.

I have to replace the concreted area under the patio of about 16 sqm as it has a number of cracks and also has a number of broken tiles on it.

So the job would involve first concrete breaking, taking the concrete waste away and then laying fresh concrete.

Appreciate any advise if:

1) I should have the concreter breaking/disposal and laying new concrete as two separate jobs. Will this result in a lower cost as the concrete breaking can be done by many tradespeople.

2) As it is the patio area what the options in completing the surface reasonably well as I am on a budget and it is an old house. Coloured concrete stamping or stencil or plain coloured concrete??

Thanks All

Just get a carpenter to build a deck over the top of the old patio. No removal required.

    • Thanks makes a lot of sense will include this as an option. Will save a lot of trouble.

  • I would check storm water systems before replacing anything try to discover why the concrete subsided in the first place, often downpipes from the roof can cause structural faults.

    • Will do, but the cracks appeared as I had a nearby tree which has since been removed.

  • removing concrete and replacing it is not budget.

either get it re screed over, tile it or deck as mentioned above

    • Thanks. Decking seems to be a good option as not enough space on one side for tiling due to a door opening on to patio.
