Replacement for OnePlus One

Hi Friends,

My OnePlus One A0001 screen broke and now I am planning to buy a new phone. What do you guys think of replacement options for OnePlus One. I am willing to spend up to $500 for a good camera phone with regular software updates.

I was looking at Mi Mix but it is a bit over the budget and the reviews are not that good for that price. Others phones that I was considering are Mi Max or Mi 5s Plus. Also do you guys think I could get Mi 6 for around 600$ as it is 2499+CNY

Cheers!

I want more people to buy Windows phones, they are fantastic and then if we get enough users I can finally get SnapChat.

But the phone has a fantastic camera and regular updateswhich seem to be the criteria.

I don't think I will get a lumia this time. Having owned 920 and with Microsoft apps being available in android, I'll stick to android for now.

  • This seller has Mi6 listed for $640 AUD with DHL

Only other seller so far on Aliexpress starts at $674

  • oneplus 3t ? the camera isn't fantastic, but an upgrade over the one.

    • The wife went from 1+1 to 1+3 and loves it. The camera is pretty good IMO, but I wouldn't say updates were "regular".

      • Yes, I had severe battery draining issues with CM 12 on OPO and I had to move to Exodus. But lately, they are not good with their regular updates.

      • I wouldn't say many phones these days have regular updates unfortunately.

      • I have to disagree with this. I have the Oneplus 3t and just within this year there have been about 6 updates, a lot more than I have received on other phones. I am not sure how it was before when it was just the Oneplus 3, but Oneplus have upped their game it seems.

  • If you have $500 budget then I would recommend ZTE Axon 7 from Amazon (JB sells them for $699)

    • but if I buy it from amazon, it would not have band 28 as I assume US warranty would not have aus specific band 28 right?

  • All the Amazon ZTE AXON 7 deals are from their Italy or German website

AFAIK - Amazon Italy and Germany sells the A2017G model, which has Band 28 support

    See https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/zte-axon-7

    • Thanks for the info!

      • No worries. I am also an OPO user, and my phone is still going strong except the battery life (changed the battery but after 5/6 months it doesn't even give half days usage)

I would also like to buy ZTE Axon 7 but its too expensive for me at this moment.. So considering Xiaomi phones…

Axon 7 ticks all my boxes except the price tag… the only other concern I have is the 3250mAh battery for the QHD screen, so do your research about the battery life if you decide to buy it.

have you tried exodus for OPO? My battery life was much better with exodus android.

        • I am looking into Mi Max. Trying to go through reviews in the forum.
Geekbuying has it for 360$ http://www.geekbuying.com/item/Xiaomi-Mi-Max-6-44inch-4GB-12…

        • @HereOnDailyBasis:
Thanks, I am running the Stable COS 13.1.2 which doesn't have any battery issue
I think my battery (hardware) is the main issue… I guess all the 3rd party batteries are the same as you cannot find the original OPO batteries

        • @HereOnDailyBasis:
Yeah Mi Max is a good option, but the screen is too big for regular use I guess (unless you like HUGE phones)

Also remember no NFC and Band 28

I would rather recommend Mi5s Plus over Mi Max

BTW - very disappointed to see no Mi6 plus variant… Xiaomi will probably release it as Xiaomi 6s Plus Same they did last year for Mi5/Mi5s/Mi5sPlus

  • Wait for OnePlus 5
