Feedback on Canada Trip Plan

Hey all – MY GF and I are travelling from Australia to Canada for a week or 2 in July/August (Summer), just after some additional feedback on my plan.
We’re not big adrenaline junkies, but would like to experience some Canadian Culture + “The Rockies”.
We intend to do NYC/Toronto/East Canada in a few years time.
After Canada, we are spending a week in Hawaii (To relax) before heading back home.
We’re 27 and looking for a “cost-effective” holiday…. i.e not 5-star, but not dirt cheap. Any feedback would be great.

Vancouver: 5 Days
Day 1:
Get over Jetlag
Stanley Park
Granville Island

Day 2:
Capillano Suspension Bridge (Maybe Lynn Canyon as it’s a free alternative)
Grouse Mountain

Day 3: Whistler
Gondola
Stawamus Chief
Shannons Falls
Squamish
Brandywine Falls Provincial Park

Day 4: Vancouver Island (Victoria)
Butchart Park
Miniature World
Becon Hill Park
Breakwater
Unsure what else to do in Victoria, BC

Day 5: Fly to Calgary>Banff
Bow Falls
Lake Minnewaka
Hot Springs
Suprise Corner
Sulfur Mountain
Evening Wildlife Tour

Day 6: Icefield Parkways Day Tour
Peyto Lake
Crowfoot Glacier
Glacier Sky Walk
Glacier Walk

Day 7: Explore Lake Louise
Johnston Canyon (Hike)
LL Gondola
Moraine Lake
Plus additional Banff Stuff missed on first day

Day 8: Travel Banff>Calgary>Hawaii

Day 9 -14: Relax in Hawaii

Questions:
- Am I missing anything major in Vancouver area?
- Should I allow more time in Vancouver just to “experience”/Discover” the area?

Thanks

The Johnston canyon walk in Banff is pretty good although make sure you get cleats. My only comment on your itinerary is that it is extremely busy. You will probably be exhausted after the first 5 days and then the rest will be a blur.

  • Are you on a holiday or amazing race trial?

I think that you are being a bit ambitious with that itinerary and you will certainly need that week in
Hawaii on the way home to recover.

  • Calgary stampede July 7–16, 2017
It's a big event, I had a broken leg while in calgary so didn't see it.

Waterton National Park (on US border) might be too far out of the way, but it's beautiful.
I second the sulfer Hot Springs , maybe near Banff.

Stop in an indian shop if interested. Mocassins, headdress etc. I bought one back for fancy dress use.

  • (Ice) Hockey at Rogers Arena in Vancouver one evening. Hockey is quintessential Canadian. Get a seat somewhere between the center and blue line and grab a hot dog and poutine.

It's 1.5 - 2 hours each way to Whistler. A taxi, the quickest is around $200. A bus probably $40ea.

Hawaii isn't that relaxing… There's HEAPS to do there too!

    • Will it be in season in September? I'm planning a short 3-day stop in Vancouver. :)

  • Takkakaw Falls in Yoho National Park
