240

Saw this on Vodafone's April 2017 magazine brochure. $10 cheaper than a popular deal posted last month.

Edit:
Coles will have it for $149 from Wed 26/4 as mentioned in the comments.

Will be on sale @ Coles for $10 less for $149 next week.

  • The last deal was for an unlocked phone, from old postpaid stock. This is for a prepaid phone and likely to be locked.

  • Does this have a notification led?

    • +1

      yes

  • does it comes with random reboot function?

  • EQV, thank you for this. I wouldn't have known about the price reduction otherwise. I'm going to buy it!!!

  • Hmm, these look good, even on Optus if i can unlock the damn thing, i think.

Currently using some cheap ZTE piece of crap - screen is horrendous.

  • At this price, the build quality and overall performance of the phone - make it a good buy if you're looking for an android phone.

  • Although this is quite good value, you can get a chinadroid with much better specs for that price…

  • Anyone tech savvy person here can tell me how does this compare to the other budget phone moto G4 plus?

    • cheaper and worse specs, if you have budget go for g4 plus

I have the XA ultra version which was recently on sale for $299. Horrible phone. I guess the XA would potentially be similar
    1) bloat ware is a joke. From 16gb, there was only 9gb available
    2) Battery life is almost not fit for purpose
    3) Most XA and Ultra have a known random microphone issue which stops working until you restart (mine too)
    4) auto display brightness barely works properly in very dark areas. Way too bright.
    5) touch screen has lag issues sometimes and needs to be restarted. Maybe around once a week.

Don't buy Xperia basically. My old 5S trumps all over it except for screen size.

Share my experience of this mobile as I got it today under the $159 price tag. The girl told me the stocks just arrived so I was able to get it. Here is the deal - this appears to be a new batch as its kernel was built on 2016 Aug 6. I have yet to find out the battery life. One unfortunate fact is that it is locked to Vodafone network. Putting in another carrier's SIM card will get asked about the pin. Tried online to get the unlock code - not free. I was presented with $50 charge as it is less than 6 months old. If I wait for 6 months to pay $25 unlocking fees - it will cost me $184 in total. I cannot get one with NFC at this price point. To me it is quite useful as I can check my OPAL card and do mobile payment.

Another piece of info - this model is F115 which has the following 4G bands according to gsmarena:

    LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 28(700), 38(2600), 39(1900), 40(2300), 41(2500) - F3115

After unlocked it should do all other carriers without problems.

No stock in my area in the weekend. The one close to Town hall station has stock today. Probably all the stores have restocked them today.

  • FYI - I purchased from Wynyard Vodafone last week. Just make sure you show them the offer in the store magazine so it does not show up as A$199. They did keep on reiterating it would be locked to Vodafone, however, I tried the official Vodafone unlock link (kudos to link from previous offer here) which worked (unsure if it will work on all but definitely worked on mine):
    https://unlock.vodafone.com.au/voila/handsetunlock/self-serv…

    • Yes. A lot of people said that they got unlock code. But this time for mine bought today from Town Hall it did not give me code for free.

      • Darn it and sorry to hear - there must be different batches.

      • There is no official info whether it should be locked or unlocked unfortunately. Depends on your luck I guess, and this time around you'll probably not one of the lucky ones.

  • I bought one from Melbourne Central coles and just checked the imei in there, if can be unlocked for free and I returned the phone as it is but they refused to return it back saying they don't accept the returns of phone.

  • Looking for a new phone for my mum - thoughts on this vs moto g4 play?

I would want to unlock this is I got it - shame that is a gamble..

  • Does anyone know what's included in the $30 starter pack sim card? Thanks
