Heya PS4 Pro 4k and Xbox One S owners.
If you are one of the people who has issue with 4K HDR pass through via your amplifier (must have this feature to display) here is the solution as I have finally found out how to do so.
Most amplifier that comes default will not have this activated and only display the std 4K display signal with 2K HDR (4:2:0)
For Pioneer Amps:- to get the HDMI 4K/60p
1) Switch receiver to standby
2) Holding down Enter on the front panel and press on the stanby/on button
3) Display on amp will show RESET<NO> , browse down to your desired HDMI input and then browse sideways to select the ratio 4:4:4 which will display a higher quality image.
4) Press RETURN when done and press Stanby/On button your receiver to get the HDR 4K feature.
Note: You must make sure your television is 4K HDR ready, correct cables connected to the right port as some television and amplifier only have specific ports that can output the feature, most importantly is the console video settings are set correctly.
For Yamaha amps:- ( I only have pioneer there is from website)
Instructions:
1. Turn the Unit Off
2. Hold Down the Straight button and Power Button
3. Release
4. Use the left program button on the receiver (not the remote)
5. Select 4K (Mode is probably 2)
6. Press Straight button to change to Mode 1
7. Press Power (unit will power off)
8. Power Back on and Enjoy
