  • I've been considering something like this for awhile :)

But for it to be worthwhile to me it has to be A) Wireless and B) Support all the best video and music formats (.MKV), so I haven't found one. :o

  • Yeah I have wanted one for a while. Exacerbated by the fact that my out of warranty $4000 Bravia TVs tuner broke :(

I am not too fused about wireless but I want it to play MKVs and output Full HD (1080p) through HDMI. Otherwise I would have got the WD Mini one from DSE. Was about $50.

  • +1

you could probably do worse than the astone ap110d….

just be aware that they are not compatible with many network dongles (probably best to buy the astone one http://www.astone.com.au/index.php?productID=22 )
I have the astone ap300 with the HD option….not sure that's one I'd recommend, people seem to have had lots of dramas with it….though mine has been ok….

forum for the 110d here http://www.astone.com.au/forum/viewforum.php?f=8

price seems to start around $80 http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=AP-110D&pos…

    • I couldn't be happier with my AP-300's (I bought two)! Like Andy, mine never missed a beat, play pretty much anything I throw at them, can be wired or wirelessly networked (NAS & BT function added in later FW), and support is actually pretty good over at Astone IMHO! ;)

They can be had for ~$95 if you shop around a bit too! :)

  • Noontec V8 Pro is pretty good for 138.00, can get the wifi dongle for 29.95
does all formats and has some good internet functions including BT Client which is my new toy, interface is good aswell, works well with networking and win7

    i got mine from onlinecomputer
