Where to Buy Homewares?

About to move into new house and just wondering where people buy stuff like cutlery , towels, toaster / kettle, all the little nick nacks etc etc.

Either online or from a store.

Not looking for anything top of the range just something that's good value decent quality.

    You've listed a few things that I would go to different places for;

    • Kmart and IKEA have a lot of cheap, not bad looking stuff decorative stuff (e.g. cushions, crockery, cooking pans/pots) that my wife can spend hours browsing through, but I wouldn't necessarily buy small appliances from them (I think you can google Kmart hacks or IKEA hacks to take some of their items to the next level.

    • Towels/sheets from Sheridan (or Myer), but only when on sale 50% off or more/at the outlets

    • Generally buy brand named pots and pans and small appliances like toasters/kettles from Myer/DJs/Bing Lee/TGG etc, again only on sale

You could probably look at other places like Victoria's Basement or Peter's of Kensington if they have any near you and have good deals on what you are after?

    • I have a Kmart waffle maker and it is amazing. Based on this, I would not hesitate to buy other small appliances from Kmart.

  • Reject Shop.
    SuperAmart, Fantastic Furniture.
    Kmart, Target, Big W.
    Woolworths, Coles.

…just to name a few places to furnish a house

I am also getting a house at the end of the week. I have been joining a few 'buy and sell' pages on Facebook and going to Garage Sales. Picked up a lot of decent glassware (those fancy crystal bowls, vases, serving plates) that costs a bundle from a shop for $1 - $5 ! Also random stuff like baskets, decorative stuff.

Big W - cutlery , dish rack. They also had this big stainless steel stock pot for $9, not sure why so cheap. IKEA for pots as well, theres a stainless steel combo for $50? that would serve your needs. Also their olfast (something like that) bowls/plates for 85c each, prefer those to the Corelle ones :)

  • Op shop, Kmart/Big W, H&M/Zara Home, IKEA

While on the subject of IKEA, don't get your manchester and mattress from them. They don't use the standard sizing for Single, Double, Queen, King. Buy IKEA mattress with IKEA manchester if you must.

    • Aldi is having a sale this coming week for bedding, beds and mattresses.
      Cheap: Ikea/ Kmart/ Target
More expensive: House/ Kitchenwarehouse - wait for sales
