Will The Good Guys honor the 120% price difference ?

Hi

I bought a Dyson Vacuum (DC65) recently from The Good Guys. Today I found that the same product is getting a 15% discount at Bing Lee because of the 15% OFF STOREWIDE FOR 15 HOURS ONLY promotions. I emailed the store asking for 120% price difference that they advertised. Do you think The Good Guys will honor the 120% price difference even though it was just a 15 hours only promotions at Bing Lee?

    No

    • What makes you say no?

Because it's The Good Guys, an organisation that defrauds people as a matter of routine.

as a random internet person I say they must honour it.

  • I have use the price guarantee from The Good Guys before and found it to be relatively simple as long it is the same model number and within 30 days of purchase. Does it work out cheaper? They will probably add the delivery costs to the total if Bing Lee is not local to you. I haven't used the service for a few years though so not 100% sure if they've made it harder to claim now.

  • I'm going to say doubtful considering the two following things…

    Difference of 120%

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say the product is probably not the same…

    Limited time sale

Pretty sure that there are clauses in the price match/beat policies whereby you can only get the discount if the other retailer is selling it for that price when you go to buy it at the store.

Just buy the new one from Bing-Lee, and return the old one to TGG…

  • Did you get a screen shot as proof?

It's 120% of the price difference. So if it's $50 cheaper they'll refund $60. Dick smith used to have one day sales and I used that to claim from The Good Guys. I went in store with my receipt and showed them online the Dick Smith sale and they refunded me the difference plus 20%. Easy as that, I did that on three separate items but not recently.

If you emailed them instead of using the appropiate web form you are probably out of luck. I imagine the response to your email would be "please use the form to lodge your claim".

Or if the below applied, had to go in store to claim.

You can also claim against local competitors but only in store. The relevant local competitor must have a ‘bricks and mortar store’ within 30km of the relevant The Good Guys store where you purchased or picked up your purchase.

    • would the webform work if , by the time they looked at it the price went back up to normal?

      • I don't see why not if you included screenshots instead of just providing a URL.

  • How did this turn out? Did they accept or reject your request?
