MLB.tv - Anyone Successfully Shared a Subscription?

I'm looking into getting an MLB.TV subscription (~AUD$150) to watch the Mets play this season. If possible, I thought I'd look into splitting the cost of a subscription between a few people (Ozbargainers, friends, whoever), but wanted to check to see if anyone had experienced troubles in the past when trying this?

If not then excellent. I don't expect to be glued to each and every match throughout the season, so being able to save a few dollars would make this even better value!

  • Do it the Ozbargain way… torrents

    • Ha ha ha, problem is that I tune in to live games at work and torrenting is not an option. Replays seems difficult to access as well (at least through my Kodi add-ons) so given the relative ease of using the paid apps I'm happy to give the league at least a few of my 'hard-earned' dollars!

As a Mets fan myself I would wait to see what happens after the All Star break. They tend to go downhill albeit last year made a great recovery at the end to make the wildcard which was worth it to buy a discounted subscription.

I definitely know you can play at multiple devices at once but not sure if they are coming from different IP addresses.

    • Hmm, good to know that prices (and possibly the Mets' season hopes) go down so perhaps I'll wait a bit longer and see how they're faring. Although if other people express interest in sharing an account I'm all for that too

Now in last place having lost the last 6 in a row. I know we're only 20 games in but not a great sign.

  • you could buy 3 cheap android boxes for $150, and get NBA, NFL, NHL too

    • I missed your post before - what do you mean by buying android boxes to get US sports access? Is there some deal to get free subscriptions, or are you suggesting I use the 'free' (totally not pirated) streams?

  • You didn't hear it from me MLB Streams

    • Hah, I know of that subreddit but the issue is getting access to game replays as well as live matches. I can watch stuff live at work through the MLB site, but not other less legal streams, while most of the streams I've used previously tend to disappear once the match ends (meaning that I can't enjoy a game from home in the evening).

If you do know of a replay-friendly streaming service that costs zero dollars then please let me know!

  • I ended up receiving an email offering half price subscription, so pretty much took that offer and now have full season access. Not great to see the Mets get absolutely caned the other day (23-5, WTF?!?) but hopefully they'll recover from their injuries and improve later in the season
