As per title, looking for this since I'm running out of things to do in BOTW and I don't want having single writable Ntags (and obviously not the actual amiibos themselves which cost a fortune and require shelves of space).
Best price I've found is $74 AUD shipped from China for the 'disc' alone.

I don't see why not as it's a backup device.
It wasn't sure if you were aware of the price difference, so I suggested the nfc tags since money appears to be an issue and they're useful for backups that fit in your pocket. You also don't have to worry about breaking a $75 device.
You clearly aren't intending to use it as a 'backup device' as you complained about the cost of amiibos and stock levels.
The N2 is popular and won't be dropping in price until they release a new version.
Unless you want to risk having your card details stolen by a shady site, you won't be getting it much cheaper than you've seen it.

If you only want it for Zelda BOTW, why not just buy the 17-pack of NFC cards off eBay? It's ~$15, or less than $1 per Amiibo card.
Single writeable NFC tags are approx $1 each. You'd be much better financially to just buy some from aliexpress.
For that price, you can buy almost all of the exclusive amiibos for BOTW anyway. I bought them all at the midnight launch for approx $100.
Also, is discussion about purchasing a piracy device even allowed on here?
