Batam Island - Indonesia Trip

Fellow Ozbargainers,

Anyone been to Batam Island before. Trying to organise a trip there. Sick and tired of Bali thought I'd give it a go.

Any tips would be handy.

  • Went there years ago, can't imagine why you'd go there unless you were taking r&r as a Singapore expat….. I realise things change, but can't imagine the environment has improved, the air quality was dodgy back then

    • Looking at 3D2N. Looking out to try the golf courses there. Spending majority of my time in Singapore.

Ok, I get it… Have fun ! I got hit on head by a flying fish on the ferry, kinda last time that happened to me…😀

  • I'm interested in this too. I assume a visa for aussies is still needed - cost for this? Is there a recommended ferry company or ate they all much the same?

"The Indonesian Government has introduced visa-free short visits (30 days) for Australians to Indonesia. You will not be able to extend your stay if you enter Indonesia under the visa-free facility. Travellers intending to remain in Indonesia for longer than 30 days can apply for a visa from an Embassy or Consulate of Indonesia or apply for a visa on arrival (for a fee of $US35). Further details are available on the website of the Indonesian Embassy in Canberra."

It's visa free for short visits now.
