Need Suggestion on Budget IPS monitor $200

Hi Ozbargain community,

I am looking to buy a IPS monitor for programming, reading, web, watching movies.
Prefer size: 23-24 inches.

Will buy another same unit in the future but not sure when, so it should not be a discontinue product soon.
Have these monitors in mind now:

LG 23MP48HQ-P
Acer G237HL
AOC I2379VHE
ASUS VC239H 23in Widescreen Eyecare LED
ViewSonic VX2476-SMHD 24in AH-IPS Full HD LED Monitor

Which one should I get and any other suggestion? Really appreciate that :)

For a future dual monitor setup, few things come to mind such as thin bezels to it make it more seamless and ports available

    LG - fat bezels, skip
    Acer - fat bezels, skip
AOC - thin bezels, comes with VGA cord but also supports HDMI (seperate cable needed). 3 Year warranty. Tilt, no height adjustment. No VESA
ASUS - thin bezels, comes with DVI cord but also supports HDMI, VGA Seperate cables needed). 3 Year warranty, tilt, no height adjustment. VESA mount
ViewSonic - thin bezels, comes with HDMI, VGA cords but also supports DisplayPort (seperate cable needed). 3 year warranty, tilt, no height adjustment. NO VESA

Whether the cables bother you or not thats your call. I know you can get adapters or cables, but thats just an additional cost if you dont have them already.

Blue eye filter is handy for reading at night to reduce eye strain, but you can use programs like f.lux that does it for you automatically.

Speakers are available on the ASUS and ViewSonic, but they are crap.

There's a Samsung PLS 24" for ~170 at MSY atm.

Also a 27" 75Hz IPS for $199 provided you get in before everyone else:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/304531

It's 1920x1080 which is low for the size - however never underestimate the effect of outright size for watching videos.

      • Have to pay shipping fee
      • huge bezels (Looks outdated)
      • I'm not sure why bezels keep getting mentioned in a post about which $200 monitor is best but OK.

Because fat bezels are a problem for this dual-monitor setup he is moving towards.

  • Thanks for all comments. Really appreciate your help.
I chose the ViewSonic as they using new panel AH-IPS. No need VESA for mounting.
    Look beautiful than the others.
24 inches is enough for 1080p. When update to 27 inches might choose 1440p 2560×1440 rather than 1080p.
