First Aid for Your Mind - Inc. 1-Year Subscription to Headspace - $28.50 with Postage (New Accounts Only)

250

Hi all,

I'm part of a team of people taking part in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Million Dollar Challenge, and to help the charity raise money we've created a product - First Aid For Your Mind.

The First Aid For Your Mind kit is a 'first-aid kit' designed to help people recognise and deal with life's mental cuts and bruises, and includes items that support mindfulness and other helpful resources.

It also includes a one-year subscription to Headspace (worth $95 US, new accounts only) as well as a free Uprise consultation. See previous Headspace deals.

All proceeds from the sale of the product will be donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters to help support vulnerable children in Australia.

We are only producing 500 kits to sell online and at marketplaces next week - you can check out our Facebook page for all the details.

Cheers!
Nick

  • Is it possible to be a bit more specific?

includes items that support mindfulness and other helpful resources.

Can buy all that for much cheaper

        • +2

I have the headspace app and it says $124.99 per year, so $28.50 is a good deal.

Unfortunately it's for new accounts only so no good to me.

Looks like none of these things really resonate with the ozbargainer.

I recommend making a "First Aid Kit for Ozbargainers" and filling it with the following items:

          • SSD's
          • Eneloops
          • Coupons for Dominos and other fast food
          • Telstra and Optus Starter Sim Packs

and use a "pay what you want" pricing model. Sure your company will go bankrupt as the hungry ozbargain zombie horde descends upon you but you will forever be remembered in our Epic deals wiki page with a thousand upvotes…

@Noobist45: Just make another account using s secondary email.

I'm getting it for the Mint gum…

I think you should make it a bit clearer that this 'Headspace' outfit has nothing to do with the Australian mental health organisation

    • +1

I was thinking to myself 'surely they don't charge $100+ (AUD) to help people'.

      • +2

Nope, they're free to all… until you turn 25.

  • +2

Like all branded showbags, this one is filled with cheap, throwaway trinkets and is a poor imitation of the real thing.

    • +4

but does it come with some bertie beetles?

  • +1

WOW yes support Australian "mindfulness" or just plain old mental health by donating directly to https://headspace.org.au/ and not by supporting American businesses (headspace and bigcartel) under the guise of charitable works.

    Lazy just so bloody lazy..

    • +9

      You're a bit confused here.

      • The charity they are raising for is Big Brothers, Big Sisters, an Australian charity.
      • Headspace is a meditation app/website, NOTHING to do with Headspace the Australian charity other than the same name.
      • +1

Not confused about anything, the site is made using bigcartel an American business and part of the "first aid" kit is for headspace membership an American business.

Therefore if you are concerned about mental health just donate to headspace australia which help kids and bypass this crap… So no not confused at all thanks..

If your idea of doing charity work in Australia involves advertising for American business, go for it buy from them its not my idea of charity.

          Hi Campbell,

We used out-of-the-box software and systems to rapidly develop, market and sell this product. The challenge we are participating in has given us 10 weeks, and so we did not have the time nor funding nor experience to create an e-commerce site on our own.

With regard to Headspace - I've used the app myself for many months now and can see the benefits that it brings.

I assure you this product was not a conspiracy to advertise American (or the UK, as Headspace was founded there) businesses.

          Cheers,
          Nick

You still seem confused.. The deal is for something that helps YOUR mental health, as well as donating towards a charity.. Your solution is just "give to charity". Presumably people are looking at the deal because they're interested in the Headspace platform, which your 'solution' completely ignores.

  • all too confusing to bother

    • Hi Juki,

I agree - our product idea was quite novel and lots of people asked what on earth it was about.

I tried to solve this problem by creating a video - you can watch it here: https://www.facebook.com/firstaidforyourmind/videos/19691662…

      Hope it helps a little!

      Cheers,
      Nick

I much prefer free mindfulness, from https://smilingmind.com.au & available via Android, Apple or PC.

    • +1

They're both good apps - I've used both and they offer something different each.

I like Headspace as it has packs dedicated to working on different areas in your life, like anxiety, cancer, pain management, sport performance etc.

      • At a price…

        • +1

At a good price, of which all proceeds will be donated to a worthwhile charity :)

        • @nickwalnut: When on a limited income, charity donations are a luxury I can seldom afford. Given I can't afford to support my own mental health sufficiently for financial reasons, I make do with what can be accessed for free & share what I find to allow others to do the same if they wish.

Am also annoyed with the name, it's missing leading for us Australians.

  • -1

I got Headspace for free - fwiw it's kinda good if you want to do meditation. I hate doing meditation so I didn't keep it up.

    • +1

How'd you get it for free?

  • +2

LOL I came here thinking I can get a first aid kit for $28.50!

  • +1

Well OP I don't know what all the fuss was about
I have purchased - primarily to get access to the app
I hope your fundraising is successful
I don't know much about BBBS but it seems a worthy enough cause
    Cheers

  • I have the headspace app, and listened to all the free content which I think was about ) sessions… do I still count as a new customer?

    • Not sure but I hope so as I am in the same boat
If not then I plan to register with a different email address
Means I would need to do the free stuff again maybe - but as it is a while since I did it I am happy to start over
You maybe able to start fresh and jump back in where ever you were up to anyway?

    • +1

      Hi Little Miss,

Unfortunately yes, you will need to use a new email address and account, however you can fast forward through all the content in the first 10 days to get to the rest.

      Cheers,
      Nick

  • Hi there, are there any kits left? This seems like a great idea and I'd love to give them to a few people I know :)
