Looks amazing. Pity I can't wear watches that big with my small wrists! I would love to get my hands on one of the smaller Seiko (or other) diver watches one day.

    • Thanks heaps man, that's a good find

      But, check the shipping costs

    • +1

      That's in US dollars - US$134.95 + $26.28 Shipping = $161.31 (approx AU$214.00)

      • you're right. i love ozbargain :)

      • He linked this one which is approximately $159 AUD with free shipping. Might be good if someone has a targeted eBay coupon?

        • That's different to the one SAL12 linked, it's the same store as my deal post.
If you apply the code C5AUS it basically comes to the same price -

          Item (1) US $119.00
          Postage Free
          Vouchers -US $5.95
Order total US $113.05 (approx AU$151.00)

        • @WatchNerd: I get that link when I click through SAL12's link, but when I click the link through incognito mode I get the listing you're talking about. Guess it's something to do with the cookies in my browser.

        • @WatchNerd: Hey WatchNerd, I've always enjoyed your chrono-related headsups here on OzB, and I've got a question for you. I've been hunting for a Seiko SCVS013 (or as others may know it as, the Blue Spark) for some time. Is there a reputable Aussie forum to buy used watches from, or am I better off continuing to trawl overseas online sites? Cheers

  • Amazon,

There is the Casio dive watches with 200M screw down crown ….. approx. $50 US but quartz ….. I preffer quarts considering how much it costs to have an auto serviced. Great for swimming and diving.

Citizen eco drive is about $200 for 200M screw down crown, but is solar so batteries to replace.

Right, because if you we're a professional diver operating at 200m this is the watch you'd be wearing.

      Lmao :D

      • +1

yeah ….200m …..like 100m watch he's that are good for swimming only……. they are static tests not based on moving which increases pressure. i've used my promasters diving (40m) and also my omega seasmasters.

i remember in the olden days timex used to advertise their water resistant watches on the botton of the foot of a water skier to show they could resist more than just static pressure tests.

    • I have the Casio MDV106-1AV & it's a great watch, but unfortunately it hasn't been able to ship here for a few weeks now.

  • Nice find and very good value but I wonder why they don't use Sapphire Crystal?

    • +1

Cost I'd imagine, it's rather pricey.

    • +2

It's a tradeoff between shatter and scratch resistance / cost. Pretty sure a $10,000 Omega Speedmaster still doesn't come with a sapphire crystal!

Citizen would sell a bucket load of these if they reduced the size to 42mm, had a screw down crown and upped the WR to 200mm. Pity the NY series is finished and we get this downgrade albeit cheaper or the eco-drive diver.

    RIP NY0040

This is a solid watch at an awesome price.

The movement its probably equivalent to a 4R/NH rather than a 7S so it should keep time a little better than SKX or on par with an SRP.

If you could source a NY0040 (and insist on automatic) that would be my pick. They're harder to come by but you can still find it if you look hard enough.

TBH, I would go down the non-automatic path for an everyday wear. An eco drive/solar would give ~ 10 years of service and would be a lot more accurate. I think 45mm is just a tad big for me but if you're interested in Solar powered divers that are similar to this, check out Seiko's SNE range or Citizen's BN range.
