Groupon Car Servicing Deals

Hi good people of OZB,

Has anyone had any experience of buying and using the groupon car servicing deals which is kind of too cheap for a major car service.

Thanks for all your inputs.

  • i was just looking at the Karworx one

$29 for a major car service (total value up to $509)

does not include Oil Filter, Air Filter,Spark Plugs,Leads Etc
how can this be anywhere near a major service?

looks like a oil change with a quick inspection.

i got sick of being ripped of by mechanics so i am now a google mechanic
and by all my parts of ebay and have saved $100's.

    • That's not a major service, it's not even a minor service, but then again what do you expect for $29?

What you're getting for your $29 is fresh oil and an opportunity for the mechanic to 'upsell' you additional repairs or replacements, it's a sales model that's being adopted by a lot of manufacturers now to increase retention among owners of older vehicles which aren't subject to a fixed price service plan.

It's neither a rip off nor a great deal in my opinion.

    • yeah,,i was looking at karworx as well. I better call them to confirm/inquire more on what the inclusions are for their "$29 Major Car Service"

I have used it years back once and said to myself will never do it again !!

That was I think $49 minor service !

They damaged my alloy wheels and made me wait for awhile plus annoyed with all the fix reqd. Most irritating was that my car's gasoline tank "filter" needs to be replaced !

What you want in a mechanic is someone honest, who charges fairly and has a good reputation and repeat customers.

What you don't want is somebody in big company who doesn't care about customers because they advertise so much they will get customers regardless, you also don't want to be involved with someone who uses bait advertising to lure you in and then rip you off.
Ask a few people in your area if they know a good mechanic.
