  i have a Samsung 40 inch from OZB in dec 2013, recently started to turn darker along the bottom on the screen, rang the number on the back of the tele to see if i could fix it with the settings. Was told without asking by Samsung its a major fault and covered under Australian consumer law. They will organise a repairer to come to my home and fix it. WOW!!! i didnt buy an extra warranty or ask them to do this. Samsung went above and beyond and my tele was fixed today at 4pm. they replaced everything except the shell so its a new tele now.. just wanted to say how well Samsung treated us. I am stoked and very impressed. Samsung stands by their products

    Pretty standard with the major brands these days, it's law and they risk legal action or major fines

      Isn't usually standard after 4 years… That's a time period I'd expect from maybe a $2,000 TV - not a $400 one.

        It's a bit over 3 years, so under Australian Consumer Law you are covered.
        Only people who don't know the law buy extended warranties.

        Consumer law has no real strict guidelines for time frames, it's more a judges opinion if it goes to court.

        In my opinion 3 years is impressive for a ~$400 TV, though 5 years+ I would consider standard on $1500+ TVs… Maybe it's because Samsung advertises the retail as $889?

  Yes they cancelled mine too.
