ANZ Platinum rewards drops AMEX card by 5 August - which is the next best thing?

Dear OZBers:
I have enjoyed the ANZ Platinum card duo (Visa and AMEX) which had the option of getting actual cash-back for points accumulated. My question is, since I like cash-back the best (as opposed to miles or points), which card offers the best cash back rate? I wonder if anybody knows a good card to switch to.

I have to say that free rental car insurance was great, too.

Thanks for your input in advance.

Altitude is not giving me a good return for about the last 3-4 years.

  • Get a direct issue Amex - you can use your Membership Rewards points for cashback, gift cards, or annual fees, see http://catalogue.membershiprewards.com.au/l1Category.mtw?cat…

  • Thank you. I wonder if ALL cards now become less attractive for rewards given the regulation change. Thanks again.

  • I'm having the same issue with my CBA Diamond Awards credit card (Amex/Mastercard combo).

CBA has slashed the rewards points for AMEX from 3 points to 0.5 points per $1 spend at most places (overseas spend, supermarkets, department stores, and petrol stations retain $3 p. No reduction for MasterCard spending.

I don't pay any annual fees for CBA Diamond Awards credit card due to my home loan.

I too, don't care for rewards, however, happy to accept BP Gift Cards because I need to fill up Petrol anyway.
