Item X advertised on gumtree, went and inspected and paid cash. Item ends up being a different model than what was advertised. Inferior in price.
Should I go to the cops or local magistrate ?

Rule of 2nd hand buying, no return/refund. I sell heaps of stuff on gumtree, last year sold my working ps3, the buyer didn't want to try it. Went home got a message from him not working, luckily iphone has date/time on their photos when i took the photo of it working that morning, guess what he never replied after that photo with the details.
As a seller, i'll just tell you to bugger off, you lose =)

kinghuzi, same thing happened me one day. I was an idiot and bought blacklisted phone. what I did is, I put an ad on gumtree with all details ( I explained what happened to me) and yeah someone who wanted to send the phone to overseas bought it. other thing is I sold it for $50 extra. so, i got extra profit for the time I wasted.
DON'T GIVE UP.TELL THE TRUTH AND SELL IT. BE PATIENT.
