30GB to 40GB per month Mobile plan any suggestions?

Hello Ozbargainers

Need your HELP guys. I'm using lot of Mobile internet, I'm using Telstra prepaid sim which I pay $30 every 2 months and I get enough calls.

I use heaps of internet when I'm not home (at home I have unlimited adsl by TPG) I have a Vodaphone pocket wifi which I recharge $125 for 25gb (+bonus 2.5gb by recharging online) and that's not even last me one month.

Any suggestions for some cheaper mobile internet?

TIA

Take it easy on the data when you are out and about!

    • Thanks pretty cheap. 👍🏻

  • Mobile porn is costly.

    • Speshly now that it's available in 4k….

pfft… Mobile VR at your workplace is apparently the "it"

    • Make your own mix tape

  • Use Opera and Opera Mini web browsers, to save on data.

I must ask, how do you go through so much?

I play mobile games (that require the connection to operate), stream music and other stuff and i generally don't use more than about 3-5 gig.

If a paticular use is using a lot of your gigs, is there a provider that offers it unmetered (i.e. unmetered netflix, unmetered apple music etc..)

    • Mostly Facebook videos, YouTube videos, Browsing Facebook, Ozbargain and emails. Play some games. And other apps.

How many hours a day? Do you work? Sleep?
Maybe try doing other stuff not phone/data reliant? Are you permanently connected to a power point? That is a ridiculous amount of mobile data to go through a month in my opinion…can't be good for your neck (tech neck) and eyes…

  • At least use VF's 40.00= $15 packs on PAYU 365 day & rollover those datadays-for-26gb. worth 110 back in the pocket. Thanks to Personal hotspot+AutomateIt, very nice.

    $125 on WiFi-broadband - that's awful. It's several sim-pack activations worth.

    • Wut? Care to elaborate?

    • It's the same idea as 2GB every 2 days described below by Harshad, which is shared from a spare phone. I mention (android) app AutomateIt opening up optional extra convenience - but reasonably accessible for a determined novice to run. It can add the simple rules triggers to save sending/confirm PAYG plan's SMS code dataday 18-20x per month required for <40GB.

Coles has the right $40 starter pack down to $15 this week suitable for activations on PAYG add-ons plan. Active streamers could batch activate 2 for the dual sim handset to buy up and hotspot 52gb over a month or more.

If you can make do with 2GB every 2 days, Vodafone dataday add on gives 2GB every 2 days for $3. This way it will cost roughly $45 per month for 30GB with a max usage of 2GB every 2 days. You could purchase additional data add ons for the days that you require more than 2GB. Will still be way under the $125 you are currently paying.

    • Thanks will consider this.

  • What mobile device are u using with ur Vodafone pocket wifi?
