I can understand your frustration, but holy moly you're rude in your responses! Politeness (usually) goes a long way in getting things resolved in a more favourable manner.

They've had his phone for 3 months, the time for being nice is long gone.

The price of dirt cheap items from overseas is "no REAL warranty".
It is the risk we do know when we buy and the risk we gamble to get something cheap.
Not all are bad and awkward to deal with but the fact is that most are.
I have experienced both extremes of after sales support myself and now weigh up the saving against the possible lack of supplier interest if things go wrong.
Sometimes we have to just learn from a bad experience and move on. You wont change their ways.

      Wise words, X-wap.

We have all been stung… LOL. Just part of the experience.. :-)

    Holy crap you're rude!

Seriously you asked for a phone without a box? And they gave you back US$50 coz it came in a box?

Yeah you're not getting any compassion from me because of your responses

  • July Molly you rude Aram. Look they punisher youy

  • Wow so rude, no sympathy. If it was a restaurant, you would get some freebies From the crew, freebies you wouldn't want.

  • Ozbargain != whole world.

    That'll be a $50 fine.

Another person complaining about Grey imports. The premium you are paying for your locally imported phone is so you don't have to go through these sort of hassles when something breaks.

    • Indeed.

      • Unfortunately with many domestic stores its just as bad.

This is why I like bricks and mortar stores hanging around and making a nuisance of yourself normally gets some attention.

Learn to be polite. You already scammed them $50 USD for sending you a box. What?

  • +1

The request for no box is puzzled me. You didn't really pay import tax just because it comes with the box, did you? The custom here in Australia charges import tax based on value of item not because it comes with the box.

  • I dont mean to be rude, but you didnt have to be a total dick about it. Their resolution is great if anything, and yet you're being an antsy about 'how they stole my money'.

reading gearbest's reply shows they were very professional in their handling of a pita customer.

    +1 for gearbest.

    • Their response doesn't seem much from template which eBay customer service usually do and often not related to the actual topic. And looks like easy reply too similar with Amazon.

  • Despite the rude comments and the $50, I think there is an issue with the lack of customer service and support given by gearbest. I certainly am not likely to buy anything of significant value after reading this. Firstly the company has taken an extremely long time to resolve this warranty claim. Imagine giving your daily use phone for repairs and not getting the issue resolved nearly 5 months later. They keep providing a timeframe and then when followed up on, they say nothing has been done. There's only so much time you can use a spare phone for. Secondly, the company keeps going on about a 45-day guarantee. The phone has a minimum of 1yr warranty and should be repaired or replaced with an item of equivalent value without this nonsense of 45 days being passed. Lastly, trying to short change the buyer by offering 30, 40 and 70 bucks back (that too once it gets escalated) is very deceitful conduct. Thanks for posting this! I refuse to deal with such a company, and this is after having bought quite a few items from them. Luckily nothing has gone wrong but if something were to have gone wrong I would not want to be in this position.

    • So one person's obviously biased post means you won't deal with them…?

I had a bad experience at maccas, you gonna boycott them now?

The phone has a minimum of 1yr warranty and should be repaired or replaced with an item of equivalent value without this nonsense of 45 days being passed.

Where does it say they should repair or replace?

      • there are multiple reasons as stated above. I have purchased low-value stuff in the past and will do so but if Maccas was selling something worth a couple hundred bucks, I would certainly think about boycotting them / going elsewhere.

The point here is being missed. Its not about a biased/bad experience etc, as stated above its about the company doing wrong by the customer for firstly taking this long to resolve the matter and if they couldn't, not offering an adequate solution (money/replacement)..not even offering to return the un-repaired phone back as requested by op.

the definition of warranty is: "a written guarantee, issued to the purchaser of an article by its manufacturer, promising to repair or replace it if necessary within a specified period of time." As the reseller of that phone, they should be taking care of warranty claims on behalf of the customer. So they Should be repairing or replacing and if they can't, give the customer the full amount back.

You have also missed the fact that they are playing around with the customer by promising a delivery date and then pushing it back, multiple times and bullshit nonsense about 45 day time elapsed.

        • This is a very Australia centric viewpoint for someone buying from overseas….
