For extra 700$ I am getting 7th Gen i7 Processor and 120hz display so I need help from you guys that extra $700 is worth it for 10% performance with the 7th Gen i7 Processor and 120hz screen?

Or If you guys prefer some other laptop with similar specs feel free to leave it on the comments.

Thank you guys in advance.

  • If you are claiming TRS on this. You will have to pay it back or risk getting fined if you bring it back into the country. $900 is your limit in an item you can bring back. this is clearly well over that.

    • When I will bring it I will declare it and by the time I will be back this item will be considered used so I don't think I will have to pay all the amount that I would get from TRS.

Keep in mind that if you go over your limit, which you will, then you pay GST when you return on ALL the goods you purchased GST free overseas as well as the laptop. Depreciation will be assessed by customs and depreciation will depend on how long you were away. (how long is a piece of string? Its going to depend on a personal assessment, by the customs officer)

If the total value of the goods you are bringing into Australia is greater than your passenger concession, including goods for which you have previously claimed a tax refund under TRS and any purchased overseas:
you must declare all of these goods
you will need to repay the GST refund back on the goods you claimed under the TRS
duty and GST will apply to all items purchased, not just goods over the limit of your passenger concession.

so to get any value from this you shouldn't buy any extra items overseas that are dutiable and what depreciation the customs officer determines, if any.

I don't know if it is the exact same model but the older gen 6 g752vs with 32gb ram is selling for 2599 at centrecom this weekend.

As a side note…wow these things are heavy. 4.5kg plus power brick so 5.5 to 6kg all up. Calling it portable is pushing it for me. That's like the weight of a mini itx box.

On a 17.3 fhd screen I don't know if you will see much difference between 1060 and 1070 for a year or so at least. At least with the 120hz you can push something extra from the card. I also expect this thing to be loud.

    • Thank you so much telling me about the sale. I had this Laptop in my mind before selecting the 2nd option that I mentioned earlier. Indeed it is the same model even better it comes with 32gb ram instead of 16gb.

I got this laptop that you mentioned and it seems like a very good deal. The last time when I checked about the same model price that you mentioned but it was out of stock everywhere and the cheapest was available for $2999 + shipping. But thanks for pointing me out on the right direction. I think I just purchased the last unit because immediately it got removed from the website after I confirmed my order.

Glad to have helped. Enjoy your laptop :)

    • Paying 1000$ extra for new processor and 120hz screen is not worth it since these laptops comes with G Sync panel and as I have heard enabling G Sync locks the FPS to 75 max.

  • I would get this instead Metabox-Prime-P670HS-G. You can effectively get your 2nd choice for 1k less.
