Laurastar Ironing System $999 Includes Iron & Board @ TVSN

220

Laurastar is pretty much the Dyson of irons but always priced too high. This is first time I am seeing one below $ 1000!!This is from TVSN - so you get instalment payment option as well.
Being from fashion background I understand a bit of how this works - the magic is in the board which has suction and blow options. The vacuum holds garment in place and the blow function removes the creases.

The write up from the site is below:
With the Laurastar Go system, you can enjoy all the essentials of Laurastars exclusive technology: a professional iron & steam and an active table that includes a blower and vacuum system.
Laurastar Go comes with a design, highly-resistant cover, a protective soleplate for delicate fabrics, a special heat-resistant iron mat, a drain tray, a steam cord holder and a water filling bottle.

Features & Benefits :
• Convenient: The Laurastar Go Ironing system has three adjustable height levels, as well as a large ironing surface with a narrow point whish can adapt to all clothing shapes. For increased convenience, its vertical steaming function allows you to bring the finishing touch to your hanging garment.
• Safe Use: Auto stop function which automatically switches off the appliance after ten minutes of non-use for increased safety and energy savings.
• Easy to store away, taking up only 18cm width when folded.
• Easy to use: heats up in eight minutes. The Laurastar steam generator can hold up to 0.8 litres of water.

  • Good deal, thanks op! 👍

Didnt know the European Union was a country

    • +1

For Country of Origin purposes, EU counts as 1 block.

      • +20

For Country of Origin purposes, EU counts as 1 block.

Only when it suits. If it's made in Germany it'll say made in Germany whereas if it's made in Turkey it'll be made in the EU.

        • True indeed.

        • +7

Ummm. Turkey isn't in the EU.

        • -4

          @Risto:

Ummm. Turkey isn't in the EU.

It is from a trade and customs point of view and I'm sure I've seen made in the EU on goods from Turkey sold in the EU.

        • From a post on ProductReviews-

"all Laurastar irons are designed in Switzerland and Made in the EU, specifically Portugal. All the components are sourced from different countries in Europe."

        • +1

          @Spizz:

"all Laurastar irons are designed in Switzerland and Made in the EU, specifically Portugal. All the components are sourced from different countries in Europe."

Apple started this with their "designed in California, made in China" bullshit.

        • and most likely those other less scrutinised Eu countries have sourced their components from China and reboxed them made in EU

    great deal..grabbed 3

though in really, how is this a deal compared to a good ironing board + the ~$100ish steam iron that was around last week?

  • +8

You know that for $40 at Kmart you can also get an iron and board that also irons shirt. Or for $1000 @ $3 a shirt, you can get your shirts ironed for 66.6 weeks, which is almost two years of work (less holidays and public holidays).

    • -7

      1 - who sells/wears $3 business shirts?
      and
2 - wouldn't you still need to iron those, as they would be creased out of the pack

      • +9

        1 - who sells/wears $3 business shirts?

        Wow…..

2 - wouldn't you still need to iron those, as they would be creased out of the pack

Double Wow….. Amazing really, our education system really is terrible.

It's really very clear and I don't see how you could misread it… "for $1000 @ $3 a shirt, you can get your shirts ironed for 66.6 weeks"

        • -5

well, I read it as the equivalent of 66.6 weeks of ironing (as the first sentence had me in the 'buying an iron from kmart' mode)…not that you'd actually pay someone $3 to iron a shirt (which seems even crazier to me than paying $1000 for an iron and board)

so thanks for your wow and double wows, I'm over-wowed

but anyway, clearly our education system is terrible (not that I've been in it for a long time)

@SBOB: Mate, blokes like you don't wear shirts to work, they wear fluro vests. Don't worry about it.

        • +9

          @Burnertoasty:

hey, I iron my high vis shirts…need to look respectable

    • A $40 iron and board that also irons shirt? Sounds like something I need. No more ironing for me!

    Vendor in title please.

And the exclamation marks… And postage

Laura would want to be a Porn Star for $999

Laura would want to be a Porn Star

It does say she can Suck and Blow at the same time, it takes a lot of experience to do this and sadly once a ring goes on the finger…..

I can count one one hand how many times my wife has ironed my shirts and ….

I can count one one hand how many times my wife has ironed my shirts and …

… you sat on the other hand.

      • +1

She has done mine plenty ;)

        • +1

She has done mine plenty ;)

So you're the one called millimetre man who has his shirts ironed each week.

  • +1

Thanks for the first post! Impressed if it's made in Britain.

    • +1

      Highly doubtful.

  • +1

For $999 thankfully it does a blow job

  • +1

I must admit I cannot see the value.

    • These aren't value-oriented products. They are for people who enjoy ironing, particularly delicate items. There should be plenty of youtube clips demonstrating the usefulness of the ironing board. The iron itself is comparable to other steaming irons.

  • +3

Seriously though - it has a fan cooled board and super large water reservoir - if I was extremely wealthy and still insisted on doing my own ironing - then this set-up would certainly be high on my list. However, I'm poor and choose not to iron - so i'm out.

  • This is exactly what I was looking for!!
    Cheers Op

  • Best price I have seen for this iron.

    • +9

Best price I have seen for this iron.

Only price I have seen for this iron.

  • +1

Regular price for this is $ 1800 and right now on the Laurastar website, it is availble for $ 1400. Hence this TVSN price of $ 999 is a surprise bargain!!
I don't use this myself but have seen in use and it makes ironing much easier - mainly by adding functionality to the board as well.

      How's your Kirby Vacuum going?

      • What kirby vacumm mate?

      • About 22 years strong mate.

Laurastar is to ironing what De Rucci is to bedding.

    • +2

Laurastar is to ironing what De Rucci is to bedding

De Rucci is a marketing scam selling cheap rubbish at a premium just like Kleenmaid used to do.

      • -2

        whoosh

        • +2

          whoosh

Why? Laurastar seems like a decent product that is worth it if you iron a lot. De Rucci is cheap rubbish that is also overpriced.

Many people think of De Rucci as an exclusive brand and top quality.

    • +1

A cheap Chinese company spending a lot on marketing and pretending to be a premium Italian company..?

  • +7

I guess my wife is replacable

    • +7

Mine broke - the suction and blow functions stopped working.

      • +10

Ah this is a known bug. You need to do a hard reset which involves pushing the button called "freeze handbag and shoes allowance". If your model has a short fuse you may need to sleep on the couch for a few days afterwards but it almost always gets the suck/blow function working again after week 2.

        • +9

          I wouldn't call her a model…

  • +1

Ridiculously priced. I bet laurawhatever make more than $950 profit per unit which they price at $1000

    • +2

Price to market not price to cost. It's not rocket science but many do not understand this on ozbargain.

    • It looks like they actually followed up on these complaints - so kudos to them.

  • +1

Unlike Dyson, why does this look so ugly? At least Dyson cleaners look modern and stylish. This thing looks ancient.

    • +1

Maybe put some carbon fibre decals on there, hand-stitched leather and a couple of classy analogue displays like a compass and thermometer. If you want to go modern, add some digital gauges like g-force measurement, fastest shirt time, and steam psi.

      • +1

Yeah, no. Thats the exact opposite of what I said (sleek, clean, minimislitic). I dont see any Dyson products with decals and over bearing displays?

        • Dyson sleek clean and minimalistic?

          That is BS.

My Dyson is bright purple and green

Aldi premium ironing board +extra cushion cover $49.99
    Aldi steam iron $49.99
Look on hubby's face when I tell him his clothes are ironed for the week $priceless!!

  • I had one of these years ago.. we miss it dearly.

Made ironing a lot less annoying and got better results. Just make sure you use good water in it.

  • -1

I never iron just got no time

    • Can G-strings even get creased? And how many husbands do you have?????

        • Just the ones with the um, pouch?

  • Pretty sure this is the absolute base model Laura Star?

    • Actually looks like it is the 2nd best of 4 models they sell!

        • -1

          Thanks but no thanks.

I gave up ironing when I got rid of my wife. Both a complete waste of time.

        • @LiveItUp: If memory serves me correctly, McQueen was supposed to resurface the road.

He did a crap job the first time, so was forced to redo it - second time he did it well.

That would be kinda like buying me new lingerie rather than just cleaning and ironing it.

        • @LiveItUp:

Yeah it was all in the attitude from McQueen. First time he just wanted it done ASAP. He didn't give a toss about the quality, just wanted it over.

It was a crap job first up.

Second time round, he fell in love and did the road with love. Perfect job.

You are one special lady (?) if you still love your husband so much you prepare his g-bangers so well.
He must be a fit guy - married 30 years and still rocking the g-strings…

        • +1

          @LiveItUp:

This is Tony's legacy - putting men back into their G's.

      • You were right the first time, it's the base model.

        Worst -> best
        Go, Go+ S4a, S6a, S7a, pulse

They dont need that many models though, some probably have no practical difference

I remember seeing these puppies at the Easter Show.

My missus was always very keen, we came close but never bit the bullet.

Lazy biatch always did iron stuff pretty poorly - not sure this would have improved things much - she still would have been required to put in some effort…

In the end she outsourced ironing, cleaning and every other wifely duty while she sat on her ever expanding ass…

  • +1

apart from trolls and other comments (I actually like reading it!!)

Is there any personal feedback re this iron? I hate ironing and like to pull trigger but bit reluctant.

What happens if it does not work out?
