[Feature Request] Show Top / Active Coupons as a Sidebar on Front Page

Often when ebay and similar deals come up there are lots of posts using the same coupon.

What I'm suggesting is to add a side-bar panel to the front/deals page to include coupons which are currently active and popular and allow someone to one-click through to the search to find all related deals.

This will expose the coupon feature and make it more of a priority on the site and also make people aware of new deals coming up.

Example I have mocked up is below:

The count would be the total +1 for all related deals and be used to sort.

The expires would show when the deal is ending.

And the deals count would show how many related topics are using that coupon.

  • Nice computer skills!

  • one-click through to the search to find all related deals

Those will come sometimes so OP of those big coupons don't have to link to the search page which might not return the correct result.

However current active coupons in your case have very limited use, and it's mostly just for eBay deals, which I don't think we'll implement. Our other site Couponese also shows Popular coupons including ones that are expiring today.

    • -1

………and a site I never knew existed, perhaps more suitable to you to add a sidemenu below "New Forum Topics" with a note "Our Other (or) Sister Site", a link, then the brief description you typed which says it all…"shows Popular coupons including ones that are expiring today".

Any other related sites by the way?

    • For search I was more just thinking of a generic text-search for the coupon name:

      ie.
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/search/node/ANNIVERSARY15

My main reasoning behind it was that take for example the current ebay deals.

There were 3 of them on the go recently from memory, and no easy way to know which ones were active, and their expiry without having to do multiple searches and manually click into multiple individual deals.

    • Another option - can you just do a sidebar which reads an rss from coupsonese if it is owned by yourselves?

      • Searching the coupon code only works when the code itself is reasonably unique. Something like "SAVE20" is going to return you lots of unrelated deals. As I have said that we already have plans to provide a list of deals from the current active coupon code.

As of sidebar — it might actually go away sooner or later as half of our users don't see them (mobile users).
