Toyota LandCruiser Prado 2017 Maps Not up-to-Date Specially One of The Roads Which Was Closed More than 2.5 Years Ago

This is my first forum topic and would like to get some advice.

I purchased a brand new Toyota Prado 2017 model and the directions to my house shows a road which was closed more than 2.5 years ago.
I contacted Toyota and their response was that they are aware some areas are not updated and it will take some time to update.
Would like to know what are my other options?

This is the Toyota response.
Thank you for your recent with Toyota Motor Corporation Australia (TMCA) dated 2nd of May 2017 in regards to your Satnav concern.

We would like to advise that Toyota updates their mapping systems every 12 - 18 months, in this instance even though your vehicle is currently loaded with the latest software update the information may not be current due to this time-frame when updates occur.

We would also like to advise that upon further discussion with Patterson Cheney Toyota we can confirm that both Altitude Edition Prado's were inspected both having the latest update in terms of software.

  • Service adviser advised they were tested back to back both having the exact same information and software.

Thank you for contacting Toyota Australia and allowing us the opportunity to respond.

Just use a $100 android phone on your windscreen in your $70,000 new SUV to get up to date maps 😏

this is a worst disaster than the Volkswagon emission scandal.

      RIP Toyota.

  • Yep the GPS in our Prado is useless, legit wasted hours from it taking us impractical routes, roads that don't exist, misnamed roads. Their name of Braidwood main street isn't even close and have no idea how they calculate house numbers.

  • Either go for a standalone GPS, with free updating maps for the life of the product, or get maps on your phone. The amount of money required to update maps on car systems is outrageous.

You could always contact the local municipal council and see if they can reopen the road??

I love this idea - thinking outside the box.

But the day the council reopens the road is the day Toyota will update their maps to have the road marked as closed for the next 2.5 years 😝

      it's a 4wd, just make own roads

Did you make it home yet? You don't have to wait 12 to 18 months just take an alternative road.
