Best Bargain Vacuum Cleaner below $150

Hi Bargainers,

Need recommendation for best vacuum cleaner, moved to a new rental place and carpet is yuck. My old kambrook is not working for hair or anything else, but its 6 yrs old and my long hair doesn't help too.

Any reviews on this - http://www.godfreys.com.au/electrolux-classic-silence-vacuum…

Anyone use it before? does it work, the online review on their website is awesome but I rather trust the awesome peeps here.

Any other recommendation that is hopefully below $150?

TIA

I have a 2000watt piranha vacuum that I bought from kmart 5 years. It really sucks . haven't had a single issue with it. Cost ~$130.

It doesn't look too bad for the price, but reviews aren't great- http://www.productreview.com.au/p/electrolux-classic-silence…

If you can wait, you can sometimes find Miele vacuum cleaners for under $200, which I think is a much better buy.

I have a $99 Volta that is 9yo, but I don't use it much, mostly around the garage these days. Also have a Dyson Portable and a ducted vacuum cleaner.

That reminds me I need to vacuum upstairs.

Whatever you do, get a vacuum with a disposable bag. The bagless or washable bags are messy.

    • Hi JB1 why are bagless messy? As it when u vac it leaks or messy when clearing the bagless container?

I was at godfrey and had a super duper pushy person telling me all vac below 150 are nonsense and the minimum i should spend is about 250 blah blah crap… told him student on budget and continue telling me all those under 150 strong suction now but in 6 months the motor will start to fail and in 1 year I will have to change another. =(

Messy and dusty when emptying the bag.

Ask him if it's such a bad product why do they sell it? It comes with a 2 year waranty anyway.

The only reason you loose suction is because the bag is too full. Even cheap vacuum cleanera last ages.

The issue about the $150 unit mentioned above has to do with the hose rather than the motor.

  • I can recommend a good cheap cordless if you want to go to batteries.

  • Used Kirby. Like http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/162501380506. Should be able to pick one up around $100.

  • I bought the Philips PowerPro Active (now clearance/discontinued I believe) at the start of the year and it's been pretty good so far. The one below might be a good option if it's anything like the PowerPro Active
