Is Samsung Galaxy S8+ Worth The Upgrade from The S7 Edge?

Hey guys, I'm just wondering if I should upgrade to an S8+. With the click frenzy deal, the S8+ Goes for $78.75 p/m with 10gb of data which is a crazy good deal. I'm on a BYO plan rn.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

nah.. I am still using S6 and do not feel a need to upgrade.

  • Seems like a downgrade - isn't it super fragile? My s7 is the first phone i've cracked (thankfully not noticably) and I can't imagine how they've made it worse

    • Not too sure on that, could be one of those things where not a lot of people are affected, but the few that are affected post about it.

  • Nah don't do it. A friend and I upgraded from an S5 to an S8 and we're really glad we did.

If I had S6 or S7 I definitely wouldn't upgrade and know a few S6 and 7 owners who agree.

    • Yeah, S7 to S8 does not seem to be much of a jump.

  • Nah. Once my S6 Edge+ got Nougat it gave it life again and I'll probably hold on to it for the next 12 months at least.

  • I upgraded my s7 edge to an s8+

it is a nice little upgrade, not really necessary but it is a better phone all round.

  • I've got an S6. I can wait for S9. I'm not missing out on much. Ideally, I'd like to get whatever generation of OnePlus is out in 1-2 years time, but it seems like it's hard to get OnePluses in Australia.

  • Agree s6 to s8 may be okay to upgrade. 7 to 8 you just wasting money. If really want to upgrade wait till s9 is announced thus s8 price reduces. Never buy recently released product.

  • No chance - used my brothers and I just dont see the attraction. Wait till the price drops alot.

  • Nah

  • Buying the phone outright and then going for Kogan's 14GB plan is cheaper. And yes, I would say upgrade but only if you have the money to splurge. The S8 makes every phone out look like it's ancient. From personal experience, people are left stunned when they see my S8+ in person. The phone itself is amazing.

That I don't agree with, I have the S8+, loving it, but I would say the Huawei P10 plus is pretty decent as well. PLayed around with my friends P10 plus he imported from HK and it seems to be very responsive and there are a few features that would be great on the S8+. Things like the gestures for camera, music, screen shots etc. and that capacitative button on the front seems quite interesting as well.

      • Yes, sure it has great features but if you only look at the phones visually, the bezel-less display of the S8 makes other phones look old. https://assets.pcmag.com/media/images/537383-galaxy-s8-vs-ip…

        • Oh you meant aesthetically, i thought you meant as a package. The S8 and the plus looks great but aside from looks, there are other phones that are on par with it in terms of specs which is something to consider as well.

  • My s6 has storage spacr issues as it doesnt have sd card. Very very frustrating

    • Then get an SD card…

S6 has no sd card slot…

Ah ok sorry I was out of the Samsung loop throughout that period.

  • I'm still on s6, and if broken I just get another s6, price now only about $400+
I only use my phone for phone calling, texting, camera, face-booking, emailing and chatting. no game so no point upgrading :P

I'd argue that the camera might be an upgrade. Not majorly but depending on how often you use it. But I think all the Galaxies after the S5 had pretty good cameras.

The S5 camera is still pretty good during the day but at night it all goes south.

      • yeah, the only issue with old s6 , just battery life, sadly we can't replace the battery, can we?
