Vaya Mobile in 2017. Yay or Nay?

Hey guys.

What has been your experience with Vaya Mobile? They provide some cheap plans, cheaper than Lebara and Kogan.

Thanks

  • Never tried, but some friends says they are good. However some of my friends used Vaya have quit that, so I am confusing now.

  • I was with them for about 3 years. I never had a service related issue. In the past when they took the $20 security despoit, it was a bad organisation, but a simple email and the money got credited to my account.

The only reason I left was because they couldn't match This from Jeenee Mobile

    • That's not an apples-to-apples comparison. It's great they Jeenee offer a sub $10 plan, but you'll the restriction on voice calls. Jeenee's unlimited voice calls plans are more expensive than Vaya.

I'm glad you found a provider that was just right for your usage requirements.

  • Have been with them for a while, no issues at all. Was with Live Connected for years before switching over.

  • I don't use Vaya, but a friend uses them and is happy with them. Although you do hear horror stories about poor customer service, but you hear them from all telcos, right?

I think they are similar to TPG internet. Cheap and you most likely won't have any issues, but don't expect premium customer service if anything goes wrong.

  • you get what you pay for!…

  • I use it and so far no complaints. I joined about 4 months ago. Very cheap, no problems with service. (Full optus coverage)

  • Vaya are OK out of the current available Optus resellers. Though definitely don't go with them if you hate being locked into contracts or are lazy about switching when your contract is up.

There's a lot of posts on OzBargain for Vaya deals that only apply to new customers but not existing customers. That means when your $10/month Vaya contract ends you'll be charged the full price of $20/month till you switch away.

I'm on a $10/month Vaya contract and can only compare it to my grandfathered Telechoice $10/month plan. Telechoice (Telstra Wholesale) is much better for signal reception/coverage. Customer service is a little concerning on Vaya but that's no different for other $10 per month resellers. ie. if there are any major or unusual hassles they can sort it out but requires lots of hassles, knowing your rights or TIO threats.

  • I was with Vaya for 6 years. They were good, no problems technically or with their coverage or service.
But they are like a lot of companies, in that they treat new customers like visiting royalty and their existing ones like crap. The deal to offer a 30 percent discount on their packages if you pay for 12 months in advance ONLY TO NEW CUSTOMER sucks the big one, and was enough for me to take my business elsewhere.
I am now bouncing around from SIM to SIM but I will consider that fresh Lebara deal at $239.
Or, if Vaya offer a good enough deal maybe I will go back.
But, as someone whi lives in the burbs of Melbourne, it was just fine.
